Hello everybody! How does your game look like when outside is a gloomy weather? Does it affect you somehow? In my game I noticed that I do not really focus properly and make stupid decisions when outside raining, for example. I was reading somewhere that it would be atmospheric pressure at those moments that affect us visibly. What do you think? Do you consider such phenomena when you prepare for the game? Thank you!
I dated a girl that I later found out was bipolar. During this time three hurricanes approached the coast of Florida where we lived, and each time when the barometric pressure dropped due to the approaching hurricane, she became a different person. A seemingly normal personality turned into a yelling, screaming person that everyone was pretty afraid to be around. This behavior would continue until I loaded her up and drove her north up to Georgia and at some point on the trip her behavior would instantly change back to normal. So yes I think in some people weather could make a big difference in how they play.

weather and poker

There are people who are very meteosensitive to the weather. That is, when, for example, the weather changes, their blood pressure rises, weakness begins, headaches and so on. But if a change of weather or an already existing specific weather factor does not affect your health in any way, then I think you can safely play. And do not think about the influence of weather on your game, if only in it you do not look for excuses for a very bad game and mistakes in poker.:icon_sant:icon_sant:icon_sant

This game is intellectual, and therefore elitist. Politicians, diplomats, businessmen, actors, athletes willingly spend time at the card table and everyone finds something in poker. Poker UNITES us ! The game teaches patience, making quick optimal decisions, trains endurance, observation, memory, logic, intuition. Poker is a great training that teaches you to read the emotions and behavior of others and accept people for who they are; develops courage and self-confidence; teaches you not to overestimate the role of money in life and structure your time. :)

No doubt poker is the most well known card game in the world. It's an easy game, and you're right, it's a time spending game for addicts. People you've mentioned... actors/businessmen and so on are spending time playing poker for a reason. It's the same reason, why they're taking cocaine, drinking alcohol, became space tourists. At the poker table they're looking for serotonin.

In the reality poker teaches you some really low skills, playing poker your mathematical skills are down to 52 cards, divided into 4 suits, even a child or low iq person can do such calculations or keep them in mind. Even here, at cardschat, article is named "odds for dummies" LOL. Strategical thinking? You have current strategy which is based on equasion of current hand and your future strategy is based only on the reputation of your previous hands and cashes. That's all.

Behavior specialists? Hey, there are 3 possible emotions at the poker table, fear/doubt/courage. It's easy to control them and it's easy to lie. Are you the one who thinks that human has 3 emotions, 5 senses and a special 6th sense that helps you to read the future??? LOL It's a complete BS, the myth that poker is a intellectual game is the same myth like human has 5 senses. what about that sense of balance, when you're learning to ride the bicycle? what if if you're upside down or when you're in the falling plane? It's called sense of gravity. Do you still believe in Santa or Democracy? This world is full of consipracy theories and poker is one of them, cause this theory generates good profit.

If you're thinking that poker is your game, because you're wasting your life by learning something new, then let me ask you a question. Have you learned something about the rake and how the online servers work? It's easy... Computer, which is a server... consumes like several cents of electricity per hour, maybe more, maybe less... and also consumes several cents of internet traffic. Now what is the difference for a PC server when it hosts a) 1000 player freeroll b) 1000 player $1.1 buy-in MTT and c) 1000 player $109 buy-in MTT ? By answering these questions you will also get an answer why football players like Ronaldo been well paid to play poker tourneys, you will also get answers why it's so widely advertised that some school teacher wins million in spin and go and why some girl wins Platinum Pass and so on.

What is the actual product that you create at the poker table? If you remove the cards and the table in poker game, who will be those people? Do they differ from Alcoholics Anonimous? Do we, differ here at this forum?

Top engineers/programmers/actors and other TOP people in other industries earn much much more than poker players do. You're playing poker because it's easy to do, you don't have to lift your bottom from a chair and you don't have to think much FOR A CHANCE TO WIN 1000 BUY-INs for that 1st place in that big MTT you're playing.

But what will be the product that you've created for the society and for yourself? Nothing? Oh yeah, you've spent the time for a chance and you've got some really cheap logical explanation given to you by poker bosses, to keep you playing at the tables and to keep you inviting your friends to spend the money. You're playing poker just because you believed in Santa, one day you've realised that Santa is a myth designed to keep you happy and to buy those useless Christmas gifts for someones profit. IF you're satisfied with design of the myth, and see no lies in it, then it will keep you happy. If your mind will ever grow up from position of "myth consumer" up to position of "myth creator" then you'll understand me better.

Several years ago, being 30+y.o. after spending approx 8 years playing poker, I've invested my time into learning new things like programming, 3d design, metalworking and so on... I've also invested bankroll to buy tools, garage and part for the machines, and built several cnc machines. These machines work and create useful products that I can sell, I did most of the job when I've started it, and I'm also doing some job by designing and programming new products. You can do the same or even better. It's much much more interesting and more profitable time spending, it's not based on the luck. There are like 20 easy to do types of business, some of them are based on chemistry, others include physics, others include machines. But LOL I know 3 types of profitable business types that people can start with $100 investments and 1 square meter of surface. And it's easy to find info by browsing related forums.

Ask yourself, who earns more money for the time spent? The poker player who has to sit at the table or the owner of this machine, who has to wait 20 hours to get 12 products done? He can spend these 20 hours doing whatever he wants, while his machine works.

I see 12 wood logs turned into 12 statues each worth $30-100, and total money spent for energy and wood was like $20-30 for 20 hours of machine work.

Now, if you can be real about things and quit thinking about actors and sportsmen at the poker table and the 3-decisional strategy and logic LOL, and come down to your personal life. What will be your next step? Can you create a plan for the next 5-10 years of your life and make it a real multi-step strategy which will be a real road to success? Or it's better to stay where you are and keep fingers crossed for a chance to win that 1st place? :hmmmm2:

i think there are a lot of chances significantly increase your stack. for example to bacame a famous writer when a you are pretty good master of words and thoughts ;)

Thanks for the compliment

But there are different ways to increase our stack of life hours. Some people are hiring others to do the job instead of them, it saves the time. If you're not cleaning/cooking your house, but someone else does it for you, then you're not wasting chips from your stack for that job.... If you have someone working instead of you, then it also saves your stack. Like I've mentioned in the above post - it's better to let the machine or robot work instead of you for the money, than playing poker for the money. Being a famous writer most often isn't as profitable as being unfamous businessman. And well, writing a code for the machine isn't as complicated as inventing some new story for the world... cause there will always be a man or company in the middle between you and your readers. At the same time such machines allow you to be independent from the middleman and sell your product directly to your customers...

I do not like to play on sunny summer days, because they are more enjoyable than from spending time eg. A trip to the lake, swimming under the sky, barbecue with friends. In the summer I play only at night - then I have peace of mind.

Rain Rain Go Away

I can put a few thoughts here pretty simply. Am I affecting you? One thought could be yes. Someone may think someone else thinks fairly, but else so about let us. Truth be told on that matter, you may have seen this. interpreted it, and filed it in your brain. All that took place and all of that is stress. Everybody's different, so a matter of whether it is distress or eustress(good stess) may vary. The way I see it the body has a shelf life, anything that causes the body to use its mitosis ability to heal you takes but heals. That's shelf life gone IMO. All of that plus to bring conscience thought you are constantly recalling information from the past and referencing it to make you. That's how I got the title. I always feel a little sad when it rains, or something sorta like it. In the middle of depression and assertion is where I go so I suppose personally I love a rainy day! So how does this relate to weather? Well you knew it was rainy outside but couldn't hear it. So noticing is definitely one thing different I can say you had. You may have noticed while you were looking at the rainy day. That would be different then the stress of the light of the TV telling you. Dear nature! It seems anything I can feel may have a ripple! That's the butterfly effect. I'll end this point with one my favorite about this. When you are mad at somebody, you may react differently to them if sitting or standing. For me its the difference between being aggressive and what I simply put as being condescending. I know it is the point that they have done what they have, but hey! I am a person who knows a little bit. Maybe it'll suit me better otherwise. Just sayin.

Ah, the greatness of a little...….something special. It maybe easy to ignore it some of the time, and neutrality is great. At least that is where I find a lot of my discipline comes from. Wanna share any techniques or do you have spare time. I know we all get busy playing, after all. Sometimes it is good to change it up with a little something. Often it is strange enough to work!

Can the weather affect your game?!

I don't know exactly how the weather affects at me, but the fullmoon affects at me exactly.
Because in the fullmoon (i noticed) feel a sharp burst of energy, don't want to sleep, and begin actively playing! And with difficulty stop...

In my house, the clouds do not run on the ceiling and means my cards will not be wet with rain. What's going on outside the window does not interest me in the game. Continue to safely play on.

Nice post!
I believe this influences, but it does not come directly from the weather, it comes from your body's interaction with the nuances that the weather presents.
Air humidity greatly affects your well being; temperature; pressure etc.
All of this goes through your health (your organism's interaction with the universe) and what you put into the body.
If they are toxic, your body will get sick and the interaction with the universe will make you very angry and unwell.
If it is real food, it will leave you in a state of grace, and you will not be so uncomfortable with the nuances of the weather!

Remember that to play poker you must have the greatest peace of mind and comfort possible if there is something that affects you you should leave the tables since you are not going to make correct decisions and you will lose your money

If it is raining, on the contrary it’s easier for me to concentrate on the game, because when the weather is nice, there is a lot of distractions.
And atmospheric pressure really reduces energy and attention, I become sleepy and weak.

Only if the weather cuts your electricity or your internet connection 🙂. But of course there are people influenced by the weather, they can be in a bad mood. If you are one of them, choose to play during sunny days 😉

No, it doesn't. It may makes me play more, cause if the weather is horrible, I can do nothing outside. The only conditions which can affect my game would be fresh air and lightness, and how comfortable I feel myself where I am at that moment.

Not only does it affect the weather, there are many factors that distract you a lot, for example not being alone, the external noises, the cell phone, which call you here, there. The ideal is to be alone but it is boring to be alone, in synthesis I do not settle for anything haha
