As much as we love to play gambling, in particular poker, we need to be able to stop. The poker client has functions that restrict access to the game. The main thing is to configure it correctly

Set your limit to what you can afford to lose before you start to gamble.

Talk to others.. adddicts as well as others

Addiction, is also a compulsion, that often ends up in isolation; the problem is the cure. Reach out to others you can trust. If you can, ask others you trust to see if they can tell if you are addicted.
You may find some help with others you know who have overcome addictions of their own. Poker, drinking, etc. They may have insights you can use.
Above all, get yourself involved. The easy way is to keep status quo, isolated in your addiction. Do yourself a favor, you are better than that. Have faith in yourself, you can overcome anything.

You can read tips that you accept your addiction

Gambling addiction or gambling addiction is one of the most complicated problems to be overcome. But you can always. We tell you how.

While all addictions are bad, difficult to overcome and can cause serious problems, the fact of being addicted to gambling also involves constant danger of being literally on the street. And what is worse, not only who is directly involved, but also his entire family.

Evita malas compañías

Admitting the addiction is always the first and most difficult stage. Once you have accepted that fact, getting friends and family involved is important. They can keep an eye on you including bank and credit card statements and also keeping you occupied so you don't feel compelled to place bets, go to the casino or bookies.

Self discipline however, is the only thing that will ever get it fully under control. Unfortunately, like any addiction, you should not gamble at all, because even the smallest bet can be the start of a downwards spiral.

The only advice that I could give is to take interest in a hobby or something that can occupy your time. If that doesn't work you may want to seek professional help.

With any Addiction it is very hard to address and the only advice would be to stop and get away from the temptation to Gamble in any situation.
I have been very close to being Addicted to Slot machines in my younger days and I saw what it was doing to me so I quit going to the Arcades, and this in itself was not easy as my wife was a manageress of one so I was always there to help her out and pick her up when she closed at the end of the day. The temptation was always there but I did it, I stopped myself by not putting a single coin in the damned things and cursed the day I started.
It's not easy when you have them so close you can feel the demons in your head telling you you need that buzz.
I feel that I have an addictive personality as I was a heavy smoker all my life and only stopped after I had a heart attack and had to go through surgery, all too late alas.
My drinking also had to stop even though I used to go out with friends and I could drink most of them under the table. Now 2 or 3 cans are more than enough for me and usually only once or twice a week.
Luckily I manage my Poker playing as a pastime I enjoy. I have never deposited on any site and only play for fun, Sure I play the free-rolls and I buy into Sit n Goes but it is only money I have won in the first place, I built up a bankroll of over 150 dollars on one site before it went bust and I lost the lot overnight, Was I pissed? Hell Yes! Did I cry about it? No Way! you have to understand I do not feel that any money I make on-line is real, It is virtual money.
I do not need it nor do I really want it, I just want to play for the love of a game I enjoy and if it cost's me nothing doing it so much the better.

When the fun Stops, STOP!

Exclude yourself from play so you don't depend on making the right decision every day.
Seek professional help. Fighting an addiction on your own is unneccessary hard.
There is help out there, so accept it!

addiction is a mind game. As long as one can find interest in other occupations like hanging around with friends or exercising he can easily realize whether he is addicted or not . If he can not find interest in anything else then he needs help

Moderators, please pay attention to this!

Good comments. I believe that this topic should be fixed on the main page and immediately help everyone who feels that they cannot cope with the current situation.

"Each of us will sooner or later look at his neighbor who is in trouble and ask - we want to help him, Lord, but with what? For the truth is, we can rarely help those we love. Either we don’t know what we can do, or, more often, they don’t accept help."

- "A River Runs Through It", a film with a Brad Pitt, in which his character had a similar situation.

I don't see poker as gambling, but I can see it being an addiction, I have been losing on poker sites quite often lately, but still love playing the game irregardless online, I am just waiting to get back into live games!

I think if addicted, playing on sites that can offer the same enjoyment of playing strategically (and not for money) could be an answer. My buddy told me about replay poker, just because I am basically breaking even online with bankroll online...

I don't play online to win money, well I do, but I don't as my goal, its just part of the process if I win. It is about learning the game more and more and developing a craft.

If you are playing to win money, and consider it gambling, seek help. No question. If you are addicted to poker and want ways/avenues to play with many people for free, then look into options that are out there for sure. (Just stay away from Zynga!!) Like replay Poker? Still haven't looked into it, just been too busy reading and working on my live game currently. (I am a fan of a real deck of cards)

Best of luck.
Don't gamble, play poker:)

Initially you should check with a professional if you do not have any psychological disorders that are the root cause of your addiction. You may have depression or obsessive compulsive disorder that makes you gamble uncontrollably. In that case, you will need to address the root of the problem. Because even if you control your addiction to gambling, you will develop another one.
Remember that Poker is not a game of chance. If you are playing poker as if it were a game of chance, I think it is time for you to learn how to play before you start playing.

Addiction to card games, drinking, smoking, cards and / or drugs leads us to destructive behaviors, in which we lose control over our actions. It is essential to understand the problem and seek help from family, health professionals and support groups.

I assume a gambling addict cannot be a winning player, since his addiction will make him play spots that should’t be played.
The best advice I can give is to selfban yourself from gambling sites and casinos, and ask friends and family for help.

in my opinion, the problem is not the game, nor the drink, nor the drug, nor any addiction itself.
the problem is what the person has inside him that makes him addicted, or what is missing inside him that makes him become addicted.
it depends a lot on each one, if he were not addicted to gambling he would probably be addicted to something else.
but it’s just my opinion.
