I used to study, watch tv, or videos, work on a few computers, while helping my children with their homework.
Now I take the time to actually figure out what the other players are doing. I only play one, sometimes two games. It helps a lot also when playing in person, I will go over different scenarios that could be in play, in that I mean what cards do I think the others in the hand have. And their betting patterns on the different hands. Playing live if you are trying to steadily go over different hands in your head, people won't know what you have in your hand. I not only figure my outs, I start to try and figure out different outs for the various hands that could be in play.
I can sit back and just watch different tourneys and different buy in amounts, see how different they play, or not.

I generally watch youtube or TV while playing, but when i do get really nervous or excited, i walk. Simply walking around in the living room seriously helps after some bad beats and even big winning hands. Also keeps my blood flowing, as i can get nervous just by sitting in the same spot for more then an hour

Personally for me I like to have a movie on in the background. It probably isn't the best practice to have anything on to distract you from playing but at the level I play the players aren't very good anyway!

Video Games to Distraction

I can not do anything else than analyze game constantly and learn about opponents... If I start to watch movie for example, I miss tons of info and make moronic moves.
