I started playing LIVE when I was in my teens.

I joined online when the poker boom started and retired when the easy money was gone.

It started for fun, then was for money, and now I play when I do other things online, usually.

I learned poker young—too young, probably. Back then, it was always dealer’s choice, and the games were pure madness. One hand might be five-card draw, the next some half-invented variant nobody had a name for. Chips flew, tempers flared, and the rules bent like cheap cards in a humid room. I’ve always had a love–hate relationship with poker. I love her fire, her mystery—but she’s never been shy about breaking my heart.

I have been playing poker for about 8 years. I started playing thanks to my friends, who always strongly recommended that I try it. Since then, I have been playing regularly, and poker has become my favourite hobby that also brings me money.

What Chris Moneymaker did in 2003. That was the inspiration for me to take up poker seriously.

In the early 2000s, I learned what a slot machine was. One of the slots turned out to be poker. After some time, I began looking for poker sites and rooms on the Internet so that I could play without leaving home. My first poker room was "golden poker", then I found Poker Stars and have been playing there since 2012.

Started by playing card games with my friends as a teenager and poker just came across. I liked it from the very beginning.

Personally, I got into poker after watching the wsop in Las Vegas on YouTube. At that time, I couldn't even imagine such massive tournaments existed - I'd always thought card games were just for fun before that!

Good morning everyone.
I worked for over 10 years in Copacabana Beach selling grilled cheese kebabs. At first, it was quite profitable and relatively easy, but over time, the number of sellers increased greatly and, combined with the increase in the price of cheese, profits fell. Selling became increasingly difficult due to high competition.

This situation made me start looking for ways to make money online. That's when I watched a YouTube video of a sports journalist who had started playing poker. He said that he took a course with André Akkari — who is very famous in Brazil and in the poker world — and that the results were so good that he was earning more money playing poker than working as a journalist. In the end, he gave up journalism to dedicate himself to poker.

In 2018, I started playing poker, even though I didn't know anything about the game — I didn't even know that pre-flop AA is the best hand. I played a lot of freerolls and watched several videos about pre-flop ranges, such as playing the flop, the turn, and the river. Since micro stakes aren't that hard to beat, I've always been profitable, earning more than selling cheese — and best of all, with much less effort.

After all, working on the beach under a 40°C sun is exhausting. I used to walk more than 10 km a day. Now, to make some money, all I have to do is turn on my PC or laptop.

Started during the Moneymaker boom and playing on and off since then, I like watching as much or sometimes even more then playing. Its such a mind game and it's fun to see high level players like Niklas Astedt make creative plays.

Plus if you are watching you don't have to deal with getting stacked haha.

I started playing about 5-6 years ago. I started playing because I had a lot of friends who played, and some of them even earned extra income from the game. The main motivation for me was money and the opportunity to earn it in my spare time.

Its reputation is mixed. Success depends on strategy, chance, and the ability to bluff. For those who need excitement and are inclined to adventure, poker brings real pleasure.

Genetics…my mother was an avid poker player…my mother went into labour during a poker game…play was interrupted when her water broke, and a few hours later, I was born. Rumour has it that I came out with a pair of aces. No wonder I started playing poker instead of going to my classes in university…no Texas Hold’em back then (1972)…7 card stud was the norm, with variations like “Black Chicago”, “Kings with the ax and one-eyed Jacks”…also some acey-deucey and “Guts”. Didn’t do well in school…didn’t do well at cards, but now I play for fun and entertainment…gotta do something in retirement in between medical appointments.

The truth is that I don't know what motivated me to play poker, I was already used to playing cards every day with my classmates, but what we played was “trick” a card game famous here where I live, BELO HORIZONTE, and just one day I left the course and decided to learn to play poker from scratch and alone, 1 month later I already knew the basics and started playing for real money, until today
On second thought, I think that what motivates me most about poker is that I don't really need someone next to play, I can play at home alone, besides that it's not a game in which I have a “partner”, unlike a trick that I do need 4 people.

I was attracted by self-fulfillment in poker. Yes, it is one of human needs. Besides, poker is an ideal game for money! The point is that I know many card games, but poker was invented by a genius.

I started playing around 2020, when I was on forced leave during the coronavirus pandemic. I didn't start very well; on literally the first day, I lost my entire bankroll :)
But since then, I've earned probably hundreds of times more.

Played poker since young. Only started online several years ago to occupy time.
Nowt to do, poker filled the gap.
Still here. Maybe more than originally intended.

I started to play for fun after watching on TV and playing some home games with friends. But after so many years (and of course the fact that I've never won anything big), I play 80% less nowadays. I only play when I really have nothing else to do.

When I was growing up there were all sorts of westerns on television, and in saloon scenes there was usually a poker game going on. My mother had taught me to play gin rummy and cribbage when I was six or seven years old. I think that I inherited my love of cards from her. Not just playing the games but shuffling them, dealing them, and just feeling them in my hands. Skip forward about four or five years to when I was a "tween".

All of those westerns must have had an effect because one day I told mom and dad that I wanted to learn how to play poker. They were always supportive and encouraging of any activity that I or my big sister was interested in. So we began to play poker on Saturday nights. We'd begin at eight when the Lawrence Welk show ended, and play the last hand just before ten when Gunsmoke began. I have a lot of nice memories of those times. :)

I started playing about 14 years ago. I had a lot of free time, I was bored and had nothing to do, so I became interested in poker and the opportunity to earn money. I quickly realized that the game was not as easy as it seemed at first glance and that additional income was unlikely, but I liked the game and decided to play and gradually learn.
