You should wait and when you have a good chance You have to try to win. I learn counting my chance in the life. And you should be patient if you want to get success.

Poker teaches patience. It can also help with the skill of reading people and calling people on their BS. Ha Ha. What life lessons has poker taught you?

Poker has'nt taught me 1 single life lesson.

Howeverrrrrr.........
it is possibly one of the greatest realms, arenas, for continously observing the wide range of the human intellect and emotional discord.
It's one of the greatest realms on the planet for watching humans interact.

I can see how (understand) that might help some folks realize the insanity of the world we all live in.

Anywhoooo...ain't taught me nut'n....but it's uh hoot'of'uh realm to walk through!!!

There are a LOT of idiots out there, but if you let them get you down you'll never succeed.

That a normal full-time 8 to 5 job is far better than being a poker pro.

Pretty sure my life lessons were set before poker. Poker hasn't taught me anything specific outside of the game. The game itself I have learned a great deal

Poker teaches patience, but also ruins lives. If patience is what you're after try fishing, it teaches patience and is a lot safer than poker.

I compare life situations to poker constantly. Like everything. And I can say I have grown as a person because of it.

Most important lesson I've learned from poker is that you are better being the aggressor even if you are bluffing rather than being passive and scared to take risks. When you are being passive, others can exploit you and you lose value where the aggressor takes it all.

The second most valuable lesson I've learned, is that even if you dealt a crappy hand in life, you still have chances to make it, and even beat better hands, if you play it right.

Another one is that to get what you want you should adjust your behavior depending on the situation and the people rather than being monolithic and inflexible.

I can write for days really, but I'll tell a last one and close. Winning in life is as in poker. You may win or lose short term but its the long run that counts.

Patience, the ability to remain calm in stressful situations (or at least appear to be). Most importantly to think before I act in a every situation, because it only takes one mistake or bad decision to make things go very bad.

Very interesting thread. Poker teached me to analyze better situations around me, not to hurry and to adapt to every specific situation based on the circumstances.

For me i think that Poker is the best mirror of yourself, you can not succeed if you are not in peace with yourself and have a stable life in every aspect, financial, social relationships etc, thats what i learn while i currently struggle with my mental game and try to overcome this problem. You can not hope to improve only at poker and suck at everything else, you have to take the whole packet of self improvement to or you will fail inevitable

At the beginning poker teach you to be very patient. You don't need to fight every battle, sometimes you can just pass it even with monster hand. It teaches also how to control your financial money, how to manage your bankroll, overall how to manage your money, to respect them.
