What mistake do you make the most when you play poker?

although i have gotten a lot better at not doing this so much many others still do...........bluff too much!

My biggest mistake is that I sometimes play sit and goes after some big losses in cash game.

And I really should not do that because I suck at sit and goes.

For one i play too much when i'm tired/frustrated... Often i will be up a couple of buy ins for a session, and before i know it it's all gone. Another would be that it is very hard for me to lay down big hands IE: just lost a combined $30 w/ a set of 10s to a straight, and with a straight to a rivered flush (he was firing the whole time w/ nothing more than 4 to a flush...) I'm trying to work on these though, especially the first one.

I know how hard it is to read players who play this way, which is why, at times I have adopted this strategy which works well at times especially against someone like yourself who just doesn't know how or when to correctly slowplay.

There is nothing wrong with aggression, but you have to pick your spots.
You have to remember when playing HU your opponent will find it too easy to read you.

I also have this problem at times.
If I concentrate on the table at hand I seem to do so much better.

If half your stack is half of the pot, then(depending on situation)it's a fine play to represent strength but if half your stack is a blatant overbet, the player/s calling or pushing have the better hand or look at your bet as a bluff and you'll never get away with it.

Why would you want to show weakness?
A c-bet is how to play.
Most pro's will tell you that if your going to raise preflop then the next course of action if your the first to bet at the pot or checked around to you and no-one else bets, then do it.

better to win a small pot than lose a big pot and only under the right circumstances can you slowplay, otherwise always bet as not to allow anyone to catch up.

I disagree with playing loose, but if it works for you then have fun with it but IMO in a 6 handed game ATC will not do but it is appropriate to open your range up .

I have this problem but there is nothing you can do about donkeys.

My biggest problem is giving too much credit to bad players, not giving enough credit to good players and not knowing when the proper time is to switch gears during a tourney.

My biggest mistake right now is due completely to my under-funded bankroll

I play way to many freerolls & even though I know better when I get close to payouts I think that after 2,3 4, hours of playing & the donks are all gone there are still a few out there lurking with their big stacks they accumulated in the early donkfest parts of the tourney

who will call you down after preflop raise AQ
post flop bet that should chase away most crap hands

J7 soooooooted on a flop of Q46 rainbow turn 8 pot sized bet again

river 5 pushes all in you've got less then 3 BB left & call hoping he's on Q bad kicker & he flips up straight


thats my biggest mistake....not nkowing how to stay away from those players when I'm close to the money in tournies

my biggest mistake is playing too tight for too long. nothing wrong with that early, but too often i seem to find myself playing catch up in the later stages. i have taken to shouting, is that elvis! in hopes that 1 or more of the chip leaders will vacate the table in hopes of an autograph.

I've done alot of some of those...I'd like to vote bastard though but didn't see it in list. Is this a violation of any sorts? a guy should always have the " bastard" option.

I get too cocky sometimes when I'm doing good, or after I've had a good week, and it comes back to shoot me in the foot lol

oops i did it again

I do play too many hands sometimes. And sometimes I just can't get away from a draw even if iI don't have the odds--it's a bingo addiction, I'm in recovery. Oh and all my good cards come when i'm sitting out. Did I mention that every hand I fold sets-up or hits a straight or full house and now I'm just being so very negative. Let me stop.

Some days that feels like that is the biggest mistake we all could make

I have problems letting go of good hands like 2 pair (yesterday i couldn't let go of a full house when it was obvious the opponent had a better full house than me).

I am always afraid that I am being bluffed out of the better hand and even when they shove I turn on my "calling station" mode and get punished badly

You guys faced the same problem when you started? How did you deal with it?

what's wrong with that?

When I get near to the money in a MTT which has been going on for 2 hours plus, I tend to go really tight and really passive, as I want to hit the money and have something to show for my effort. Things like folding AK, JJ, TT etc when i get reraised for most or all of my stack.

I sometimes have trouble believing other people have a real hand and isn't just making a play at me.
Also I watch too much pr0n while playing poker, much like pokerrqueenn with her crazy supergirl pr0n viruses.
I also don't value bet enough on the river.
I don't check raise the turn and river enough.
I bluff passive opponents too frequently.
I get the fancy play syndrome on occasion.
I'm sure there's some more as well.

My concentration seems to slip away at times, in fact, I actually seem to raise my game when my housemates are watching on another computer - I'm not sure how, but their shouts and comments to each other (based on what they can see) really does inspire me to do better. Equally so, if they're watching me play (and they know what cards I have), I play absolutely dreadfully.

Strange, really.

gettin my money in good....80/20...90/10ish and losing!! and not just the 20% or 10% of the time

Slow playing after hitting flop, it pays me well when it works, but I also lose games that way.

My biggest hole is giving up when I'm low stacked. I finally figured this out the other day. I was in a SNG at my local poker league. There was no money on the line, but pride and points. People don't play like it's free for the most part so it's a good game. We where down to 3 players out of 10 to start and I had A9 the flop the board had 9 as the high card and the pot was not huge, but big enough to care about winning it. I lead out on every turn and on the river I bet out 1/2 the pot and he went all in. I was so not sure of what to do. At this point the chips in the pot would have made me a huge chip leader, but calling would have crippled me to the ponit of 3 BB's, not calling would put me 3rd, but close to 2nd. I folded and of course the bastard turned over a bluff. Now 99.9% of the time I go on tilt and go all in the very next hand. This time I decided not to. I played strong and tripled up on good sound play and was just short of 1st in chips. I actually ended up only placing 2nd after a marathon 1:20 min 3 man game (started with 10) and another 40 min HU battle. Usually I would have gone all-in out of frustration loose and had placed 3rd. I did only place 2nd (which is better than 3rd last I checked) and I should have won the hole thing, but the guy got lucky on the river vs. me 2 times!

My lesson was to never give up!
