I actually got my girlfriend into poker recently and it’s been interesting to watch. She picked up the basics pretty fast but what stood out is how patient she is compared to me. Way less ego, way fewer hero calls, and she just waits for good spots. It kind of made me realize how much overthinking and forcing plays can hurt.

It’s also made the game more fun honestly. Talking through hands together gives a different perspective, especially from someone who is not stuck in standard lines yet. Anyone else have experience teaching someone new?

My mother was an avid enthusiast. She played when we were just young children and when poker started to become popular on TV she would watch it. When I began playing online she became my biggest fan. My mom has been gone now for 8yrs. but I can still feel her cheering me on.

Here in Brazil, poker only became known and played after the internet. I don't know anyone in the real world who knows how to play poker, I think that's why I love CardsChat so much; everyone here plays poker.

Here at home it's more or less the same thing.
They think that poker is just a game of chance, but at the same time they don't even like to play, they think it's very complicated. I think it has more to do with not understanding the game well.

With my father (MGHM on him) we watched many tournaments years ago, but I'm the only player on the whole family. I also have a lot of friends practicing this sport

My wife does. I invited her in but she doesn't have the knack of navigating her way into the games and where to post and be active. She's stuck on her 1st week and now she's in hibernation.

I’m the only one in my household who plays poker seriously, so most of my family doesn’t really understand it beyond the basics. They know it’s a mix of skill and luck, but not the strategic depth or study behind it. Because of that, I usually keep poker conversations simple at home unless they ask questions. It works better that way I can focus on the game, and they don’t have to dive into something they’re not interested in.

As far as I know, nobody I know knows how to play poker. Here in Brazil, poker isn't popular; it only started becoming known after the internet, which is why I only play poker online.
