Who taught you to play póker?

I played my first game on Facebook. There were some rules for poker.Strategy I read on pokerstars but here in cardschat I learned more about poker

Nobody but I was first introduced to Poker by a father's friend when I was 10 years old.
Wasn't really Hold'em though. In his version ,basically the higher stack one . there was no showdown if he put me all in . Only if I could call it would come to a showdown. Even with 10 and no idea about the game, that seemed fishy to me

My suspicion today is either he really didn't know the proper rules or he simply didn't want to lose to his kid and its friend haha

I grew up with parents, uncles and aunties that would play basically every weekend when the family would get together, I started playing with my brothers and cousins, from about the age of 7, then as we got older and into our late teens we started our own regular cash games.

We would play 5 card draw and Manila, very similar to NL holdem, but there is no 3 card flop, each board card is revealed 1 at a time and betting is done on all 5 board cards, transitioning to NL Holdem was fairly easy.

I mainly developed myself.
There were few poker-themed sites in Hungarian.
But luckily there was a course material that I could improve with.
Fortunately, there was also a community where we could learn from each other.

As for me, I had to study on my own. When I was young in my country, poker was not a widely played game. I learned about it much later through movies and tournament broadcasts. Also, I still haven't played poker live, only online.
