I play poker because I like to gamble. But, I like
gambling at poker because it's not a crap-shoot. In other words, there is skill involved and I can control the outcome.
I hate slot machines and I hate scratch off tickets. Poker requires analysis and decision making. The only decision making I get to do with
slots is: not to play them.
I also enjoy the cloak and dagger feel of it.

Poker intrigues me because it is won of the few games that you can get rich from through the power of your mind and not athleticism. Also, it is also one of the few games that you can make money at as you get better. As opposed to say, football, where you only get paid if you are in the NFL.
I had to respond to this.
There is quite a bit of money to make in football. There are local, regional, and national leagues other than the NFL. It's a large industry and there are plenty of other jobs than being a football player. And one day, a person might be in the NFL.
It's like poker, and most everything else, you play online before you get into bigger stakes and venues, and then you go forward as you progress. As long as your dedicated and continuously strive to improve- the sky is the limit.
I know what you meant though. I just don't like it when I hear people say that something is impossible or hard to do; or, THE WORST- you have to be lucky.
I get into this about the music industry all the time. Did you know that music is one of the oldest industries, world wide, and will NEVER go anywhere. Ass loads of jobs in it with endless possibilities.
Sorry, I went off on a tangent.
