I play poker to have fun.

I don't play stakes large enough to worry about getting rich from it, all I want is to play and always have more money in my account than I put in there originally.

I have this problem with intellectual games, I tend to lose interest in them if I play them too much and get too good. Chess was the first, I played a game or two, then bought a book or two, then suddenly was playing every weekend in tournaments. Got to master rating, it got boring, you had to make a choice. Either it was going to be your life or you stopped because at that level you weren't prepared to lose.

So far I've kept poker at the fun stage, probably because I don't play more than 100-200 hands a day at the most. It doesn't have time to get on my nerves before I've stopped for the day.

C and A for me , i enjoy playing and having fun with the friends i have made online ,but want to be good at the game while i do it ..playing private forum games are much more enjoyable to play..

I definatly play for the fun of it. I have no grand illusion of getting rich doing this because I just dont have the time I'd like to invest in it. But it has paid for my last few vacations and that's always nice.

I play poker for all the reason you mentioned. But for me I just love the game. Keeps the mined going and thinking of what the other guy may have to beat him.:icon_sant

I really like the challenge. Also I love that there is so much to learn about the games. I find pot odds and EV fascinating. I almost love studying the hands after a much as playing. This is a game where finely honed skills will eventually pay off. The money just makes it exciting and that makes it fun.

A.; C; D1: the challenge; D2: money; and, D3: as someone else said, why not?

As for the rich part, although I did make a pretty nice supplemental income at it back in the day in Montana, I've always been a militant realist and the odds of getting rich at it are never good.

If I had to pick just one, it would be for fun. I come from a bunch of card playing fools and the sight of a fresh deck of cards always gives me a little thrill.

I play poker for the competition. I was very competitive growing up in all sports. once high school and college where over I needed a new competive challenge. Poker filled the void just right. It also is a nice social time amonst friends. Your able to share a passion with friends at the same time.

I love online poker I can watch a little tv and play see lots of hands and sometimes make a little money.

Thats a really good ? I grew up with a lot of poker around me I get a thrill out of the game and the people are interesting I havent gotten rich at it but then again I havent lost any money either so I guess Ill just keep plugging away at it and maybe some day Ill be a better player.

I play for fun, I love the game...but its all about the money. Bottom line. You can love the game but its not "fun" if you're not winning.

That might be true for you. I enjoy playing whether I'm winning or not, although of course I prefer it when I'm winning.
