Speaking for myself, even though I enjoy playing poker, I would not continue to play if I could not beat the smallest stakes. I no longer put the hours into study that I should so I only occasionally play mid stakes. I can still generate profit at the micros so that is how I enjoy the game without losing money

Mainly fun only buying in what I can afford to lose, though on average I'm actually profitable. I guess it helps that I can play calmly. Wouldn't yolo my life savings on poker though. It's way easier to make money from investments.

These days I play mostly for fun. I gave up poker mostly around 10 years ago after Black Friday and I'm now getting back into the online scene since live has been a no go.

I love the challenge even if micros are much tougher now. Just trying to get back to winning ways while not losing my shirt in the process!

I think it's a bit of both. Playing poker with nothing at stake I don't think would make sense. It is nice to be able to feel the adrenaline of playing for a certain amount of money, having your strategy and this makes it a very exciting and fun game. Funny especially when you win haha
