Why are very good players so "unlucky" ?

Study the patterns that RNG uses and you will answer your own question . Countless times I see strange moves , like for example call 9 blinds with 11-15 blinds stack instead of reshoving . RNG rewards specific moves . In live poker how many times would you do such moves , once in a while ?? to get folds or leave some chips in case a nit shows strength after you ?? Maybe in the bubble ?? But not every time right ?? I mean just watch how most play .... If you play a hand more aggressively or less aggressively than optimal according to RNG , you will be punished and lose .

A hand I had lately , quads on the flop , the other one had backdoor low card flushes and straights , was betting with air on flop with 12 blinds lol , but he knew what he was doing , and his bets were with specific number of chips . On turn an action card , two more players in the pot/hand , very good for him , for pot odds reasons , all he needed is to make me shove on the turn , which (unfortunately) I did , 2 called , he was the last to call with his last 2-3 blinds or sth , he got his one outer miracle card for straight flush on the river . That's online poker nowadays .....

Lucky or unlucky is more of a mindset then a reality, it doesn't belong to anyone specifically.
Timing on the other hand is a different subject.

There is an expression “fools are always lucky” for the simple reason that they are not afraid to take risks. They don't think about the consequences and they're not afraid of failure. They are reckless, that's why they're called fools and that's why they're lucky. Probably because Luck is always capricious and unexpected. She doesn't like plans, so she's called Fartuna, a lucky guy.

Weaker players, even those who are lucky, often do not reach the bonus places, this is because they make more mistakes, which a good player has definitely less. There is a random part in poker where the best player with the best hand loses the turn and river. Not sure luck follows skill level in either direction. As far as luck is concerned, I'll use the same philosophy with life as well as poker. Luck is a by product of hard work (skill). More skillful player will have less chance to be involved with luck. Also luck is a 2 way street, luck goes both ways.

Very good players play hands much less frequently. Therefore, they are much less lucky.
The rest of the players just participate more often, so sometimes it seems that they are more lucky.

The difference between a good poker player and a bad one is that a good poker player is constantly improving his game and does not rely on luck.

Actually there is best hands before the flop. You can see which ones fall within the top 10%... the top 17%, etc. etc. (very easily)

The best players might be all-in preflop more often than others on the table... it is all relative to the situation.

I really think a little bit about one thing and a little about the other.
No player is that good and unlucky, no player is that bad and unlucky.
In poker, the statistics are quite clear. You can play with AA and 1 in 5 times you will lose. This way you can lose 4 times in a row with AA and it will give you anger and dissatisfaction, but then you will win the next 20 times and it will give you joy.
If only luck in this game, Phil Hellmuth hadn't won 16 wsop bracelets or Erik Seidel or Doyle Brunson would have won 8. There must certainly be something in your game that isn't just luck or bad luck.
From now on I'll tell you that I'm in favor of always having some luck in poker, but strategy is very important to help your luck.
