Sat down with an exs parents to play for the first time. They were decent and would chuckle and look at eachother when I bet out of turn or did something wrong, real condescending. I decided then that I was going to try and get good at something I had no aptitude for, and it's worked as motivation so far.

It's fun. You can always dream about a big win even if you're not very experienced player. For me it's a relaxing game and you can't call it a waste of time because you might win some money.

I started playing poker because I lived 3 blocks behind Binion's Horseshoe Casino in Las Vegas, NV.
When I was 13 I had more facial hair than most adults anyway so I snuck with the money my Grandma gave me for my birthday ( $200 ).
I was pretty good at it, and by the time I came of age most of the floor sweeps ( the "boss" in the poker room, and just happened to be my aunt ) mostly new and didn't care that I'd played underage.
So I realized it was more profitable to grind a living than round a dream.
Boom, now I'm sitting here dying of heart failure while I play freerolls and micro limit in my final years.

My grandpa taught me when I was four. I have played my whole life, even though my ultra religious mother hated it.

Always liked playing cards. Always liked gambling. Poker being both and the fact that you will need skill if you want to win = instant addiction to the game.

Saw a show on TV sponsored by PokerStars. Found their web site and it was on from there. Never thought I was a great player but did have hope I might get lucky.

I played every type of poker with my brother, dad and uncle every weekend when I was young - 10 - 14 yrs old. We had a blast and I always loved the game. Once poker came online, I was there in a flash!
