Would it be good to teach the children to play poker?

I think that there is no need to take away childhood from children.

It's definitely worth teaching, especially if you have a stack of chips. But I don't think the real money part should be made known under the age of 18. Many young people are able to completely addict to it, I also know someone in my circle of acquaintances who steal money from their own parents because of his addiction. So as long as you only play with chips with the child, I think there is no problem and it is a good board game possibility.

It is possible to teach children to play for fun. But playing with real money is bad

Have you been playing poker since you were 10 years old?
Then maybe now poker is already your profession that brings you the main income?
I believe that children should have their own activities, and poker is a game for adults.

There was a thread in the Community Hangout section in the General Discussion forum asking about what was the best place for children to spend their childhood. I answered "Where they are loved, supported, and encouraged. ❤️" That is the kind of home that I was blessed to have grown up in.

My parents always, well with a few exceptions, supported my big sister and I in the things that we were interested in. That is how they came to teach me how to play poker when I was eleven or twelve years old.

Westerns were big on tv when I was growing up, and a familiar part of any saloon (bar) scene was people sitting at a table playing poker. My mother had taught me Cribbage and Gin Rummy when I was much younger, and that began my love with cards. So when I saw my cowboy heroes playing poker I got interested in it, and asked mom and dad if they could teach me how to play.

One Saturday evening at eight, after they were done watching The Lawrence Welk Show, we set up the card table and played poker until ten when Gunsmoke came on. For the next two or three years that became a weekly event that we all enjoyed. If I had a friend sleeping over they would be dealt in too. Poker became a part of my life from that time on, though I didn't play on a regular basis.

My opinion on teaching a child to play is if the child wants to play I would encourage it, but if the child didn't want to play I would do my best to encourage him or her in whatever things they were interested in. I would do like my parents and become involved in that too, doing my best to learn along with them. I would definitely not become what is known as a "little league mother" who forces her child to do something that the child really doesn't want to do.

Having that kind of support and encouragement is an important thing for any person, and especially for a child. If your son or daughter seems to be interested in your playing poker, ask him or her if they'd like you to teach them how to play. If they say yes, then you might have a poker player on your hands. If the answer is no, just let it be because poker, like any other avocation, isn't for everyone.

No, I taught mine Chess. The fourth child I taught poker and he had an almost immediate big win then proceeded to lose a sum of money before realising poker is a mugs game for most players.

Personally I wouldn't want my child playing poker unless it came to be naturally. gambling is in all our faces already and is being religiously pushed in so many morally wrong ways for a reason..... To cement future of ill conceived traffic. Unrealistic slots, casino games and what not are everywhere, a false understanding of the physics is a deliberately created reality.

Poker is recognized as a sport in many countries; many have been lucky enough to dramatically change their lives with the help of this game. So why not? This is better than wasting time on video games that have zero equity.

I learned to play card games from my grandfather as a child, poker is a card game... it is a game of strategy, math and yes predicting and understanding the consequences of ones own choices.

It has nothing to do with gambling unless you choose to bring money into the picture which would be kind of silly with children involved... 😎👍

If the child plays without money, there is no problem. It's even wise to develop mental strategies from an early age. In my opinion it is acceptable, but without involving money in the specific case of children. For obvious reasons, of course!

Actual there is no reason to be cryptic and I can't assume you know what I mean speaking from the UK. There are non stop ads to games where you literally make millions playing slots... Hitting unrealistic jackpots and features like it's scattered confetti. I've seen kids/youngsters playing them and it's outright wrong. In later life I figure a majority will take up the real cash and find it's nothing like the Apps they have been playing.

I would have loved to have known you many years earlier.

I don't think it's a good idea to teach children to gamble because it's something that involves money and children are very inconsequential and could end up harming themselves if they don't have any judgment
