I agree 100% that Moon has been terrible. The K9 vs. Cada's Aces are another example.

If Moon wins it should create a poker bust rather than a boom. It will show off poker's luck side. You have him making terrible plays. Busting out the best player in the world with lucky AQ vs. AK. Plus Moon doesn't play online and has no sponsors. It certainly won't create an online boom.
.

I missed the hand against cada's aces coz went to sleep for 5 hours at that point. lol
No doubt I'll see it on the ESPN broadcast.
I really thought Moon was decent before the final table.
If he won though would it not flood online poker with hoards of donks and bad players who think they can win the Main Event if Moon could and poker is nearly all luck. It would like just after Moneymaker won all over again.

I had 3 out of 7 with Akenhead in 9th, Begs in 6th, and Buchman 4th.

Oops.. I meant Begs out at 6th, not 7th, too.

He doesn't have a chance against Cada.

Anything can still happen. Just a couple of suckouts or mega lucky hands and Moon can still win.

We need to keep all final table discussion to the one thread marked spoilers. Will merge the 3 posts above.

Annie Duke said it best on her twitter:

The WSOP final table has had some of the best play you will see but also some of the worst play ever and the most huge suckouts at a WSOP FT

What did you think of Phil's play at the final table?
I think he played too conservatively.
If he played more aggressively he could have picked up a lot more blinds at the start, and maybe he should have just taken a chance in trying to double up right at the start and being right back in it, rather than waiting for big hands.
He didn't really play his natural usual style did he?

I'm sure he was obviously looking for spots & didn't feel he could find any.

Yang called off Watkinson's A7 with only A9. Still not as bad as Moon's hands.

Cada had his fair share of luck at the FT too, but he also rallied back from being basically eliminated with only 2.2 Mil and in the BB at 250K/500K. To rally back from that is impressive.

I COMPLETELY DISAGREE..... imo if Moon wins, for sure it'll be good for bringing in more people into the game. Think about it.. you're Joe Schmoe sitting at home watching it on tv.... "Moon can do it... so can I".... or "Look the most well-known pro won it.... why would I try to play cuz I'm not going to win" (<<< in a nutshelll but you get the drift... I'm too tired to write any better as I was up til 6am listening to alll of it last night).

As far as the Moon haters go.... sure he made some huge blunders but... maybe he figured he'd picked good spots to play back at them with (obviously they weren't)... and the guy was super tired. He's admittedly stated many times that he's nowhere near in the league of the rest of him... so why do so many have to jump all over him for his bad play?

I thought Annie Duke's commentary last night was terrible. Her outlook on strategy was so ABC beginnerish basic it reminded me of someone's MTT Strategy thread (worse even, lol). The other's they had on there last night, including 'The Yid' (main commentator), 'Ari', Seebok, Justin and a few others were great!!!!! Annie's negative comments towards Moon were pathetic as well. and her saying, that Moon's suckout over Ivey as being about the worst you can get is so far off the mark it isn't even funny (she was saying the only worse one being AA over KK... wtf about 66 over 44...d'oh).

All in all an excellent broadcast last night and an exciting table once they finally decided to open up. Should make for the best televised final table ever (as stated by commentators).

If you are going to put someones MTT Strategy Thread down then you should put one up yourself. With your lack of Wins, its probably easier for you to knock others instaed of trying to be helpful.

BTW I was asked to share my stratagys and thinking and did so to help others grow.My wins speak for themselves.Where are your Wins?

Ok, so I'll freely admit I have no business at the WSOP, let alone the final table. Help me understand this.

I'm assuming Moon had nothing at all in his infamous fold. It was a total bluff, and the all in means (to me) his opp has something. Maybe opp just hit the board with a low pair, so all he needs is to pair an overcard. 6 outs, assuming he has 2, or around 12%, right? Which is just about the odds he needs to call, and maybe more than enough with ICM. I haven't done the math.

If he's facing anything he can't possibly beat (trips, straight), he's dead. He's also not 12% if he's facing an overpair higher than one or both of his cards, right?

I'm betting when we see this play out, he'll have total air and his error was committing so much in the face of resistance without really having a hand to back it up with.

Obviously the whole world sees his play here as horrible, so I accept that as true, but anybody care to walk me through the numbers? Is there really nothing he could be holding that is correct to dump?

If he has some random trash like 97o then it may be borderline between calling and folding. I think its near certain Begs has AA, KK, QQ or AK or AQ of spades. I think its almost impossible for Begs to have a set there as he reraised preflop an utg raiser which hes hardly likely to do with 22, 33 or 44. Against the overpair he would be drawing dead and against the flush draw he would have just 4 outs which puts him at about 5 to 1 to win, while the pot offered 7.5 to 1.
If he did just have trash though he played the rest of the hand like a maniac on tilt, raising under the gun preflop calling a big reraise from Begs, then check raising him on the flop. Trying a check raise bluff on the flop with nothing after your opponent has already reraised you preflop when you raise utg is not going to work a very high percentage of the time, as if hes decent hes probably going to have AA, KK or QQ a high percentage of the time.

Number one remember that Moon bluffed all-in to Sauot with the A-4. So it is very hard to read Mr. Moon, as Annie Duke, and Jesus Ferguson stated. At the point he went all-in with the A-4 I am sure he thought he was ahead. He needed to take a look at Mr. Sauot and his fold probability

ok darn cpu acted up......
Sauot as we all know was committed to that pot and was not folding. The only thing Moon could beat was a bluff, and Sauot was not doing that with all his chips.
K-9 vs AA was a terrible play by Moon nuff said
All-in against Ivey was a good play, however the only thing wrong with that hand was he sucked out against Ivey's A-K.
A-7 vs K-10 they were getting tired I guess.
Kd-Jd vs A-5os another terrible bet and an insta-call to put Buchman all-in.

I guess I have just never seen such slow, but terrible play at a final table. The all-in call of Saout, when he had the 4 hearts to Begs 2nd pair and low kicker is exactly the kind of terrible play I am talking about.

He ended up all in AQ vs AK with Saout and lost. Which crippled him.
He finally was knocked out when he went all in with A5 vs Moons KJ
