I was surprised Moon made it to heads up. When I went to sleep I thought Shulman cuz of how shortstacked he was, and Moon would be the next two eliminated. Buchman and Saout seemed like the players to beat at the FT. I really didn't forsee Buchman shoving AQ pf with such a large stack after he seemed to be playing a solid game. Tho I guess 4 handed running into AK. Also the schedule was brutal. It really made no sense to me why they just didn't end the day and come back and play on Sunday especially with that blind structure. There were reports that Moon was dozing off at the table. Will definitely be interesting to watch on ESPN. Especially to see that Moon hand where he folded when it was 6m to call. The place seemed to just explode after that. Moon and Cada seemed to get it in with the worst hand and suckout the most. Which makes for a disappointing headsup match to me.

"Just before the dinner break of the 2009 world series of poker (wsop) Main Event, a hand brewed between Darvin Moon and Steven Begleiter. In it, Begleiter put in a raise to 3.9 million and Moon made the call to see the flop come 3-4-2. Begleiter bet 5.35 million and Moon made it 15 million. Begleiter shoved all-in for 21 million and only facing an extra six million to call, Moon folded despite getting prime odds on his money. The crowd was stunned, but a source told PocketFives.com that Moon held K-Q offsuit in the hand and felt that he was drawing dead. Chants of “Begs, Begs, Begs” permeated the Penn and Teller Theater at the Rio and a five-minute break followed."

Is this not the worst play ever by Moon? Worse than the A4? And then not calling 7:1 pot odds? I laughed last night because after he laid it down I heard a woman in the background (probably Annie Duke) say "Do you know how to calculate pot odds?". I thought it was funny because it is entirely possible in the Main Event for some satellite amateur donk to get on a heater and run deep, without knowing how to.

I think Moon beeing on the final table, playing like he does, affects how the other play. Feels like this final table is very different from last year. Perhaps it has something to do with the payout structure as well...

Think this one will end fast! Cada should take it down quickly unless Moon goes on another heater.. At least, I hope Cada will take it down quickly.

136.925 million for cada
58.875 million for moon

but only 1 double up and moon's chip leader. and we know how good he is at doing that. then again, cada's really good at all-ins too

Saout had AKs and was the aggressor. It was Begs who called with just the pair. Saout was technically a 51-49 favorite with the nut flush draw and overs. It wasn't a bad play at all.

sick sick sick...

I listened to the enitre final table down to the final two via bluffmagazine.com's audio coverage and really the title of this comment says it all! Even without knowing the players hold cards for the majority of the hands I believed MOST of the players played very very well. That being said there were a couple of questionable and some just bad plays. More than one of these plays coming from a specific player who just lost his mind in a few pots but still ran extremely lucky to benefit. In the end all i can say is sick, sick, sick...

As far as the Moon haters go.... sure he made some huge blunders but... maybe he figured he'd picked good spots to play back at them with (obviously they weren't)... and the guy was super tired. He's admittedly stated many times that he's nowhere near in the league of the rest of him... so why do so many have to jump all over him for his bad play?

I'm sure there will be some people who will take up poker because of Moon but it won't be a boom like Moneymaker. One of the key parts of the Moneymaker effect was that he won his entry in a $39 PokerStars satellite.

Moon won his entry in a $150 satellite at a live casino in Wheeling, WV. This is very similar to Yang winning a $300 satellite at a live casino in California. Yang didn't cause any booms. Mainly because most people viewed him as a luckbox. Moon is even worse and will be even less of an ambassador for poker. If he's not out playing, how does that inspire any one else to take up the game?

I think Ivey or Shulman or even Buchman winning would have had the opposite affect to what you said about the pros winning. I think people desparately want to prove that poker is a game of skill and what better way than having a pro take it down? That would encourage more people to come in and play longer term, because even if they aren't successful at first, they know they can play and tune their game to perhaps be at that pro level.

In contrast, you can't teach the luck that Moon has. It just falls on you at certain times.

I didn't listen to the whole table, left after Ivey got knocked out.
I thought I heard someone saying that Moon had no intention of staying in poker even if he wins. That would be bad for poker.

I agree. The dude has already said even if he wins he is going back to being a logger, and has no intention of being a sponsored pro.

If anything, I think he should do it for environmental reasons

If you are going to put someones MTT Strategy Thread down then you should put one up yourself.With your lack of Wins,its probably easier for you to knock others instaed of trying to be helpful.

I had the broadcast on pretty much all night. Left to get something to eat around 3 am ET, and when I got back around 4 am, I walked in my room forgetting the broadcast was on pretty loud. As I opened the door everyone started screaming as Moon took out Begs. Needless to say, it scared the poop out of me.

Looking back on the 2009 WSOP, it was evident that Moon has been the luckiest one out of the field. Cada seemed to at least get to the final table because of skill, not luck. I do think that Cada has been even luckier than Moon on the final table thus far though. I mean, come on, 2-2, then 3-3...he was at least a 4-1 dog every time he hit his set.

I couldn't help myself, its a shame Ivey didn't take it down, but I liked Cada heading into it. He seems like a good player, I hope he takes it down, does anyone know his birthday?

it sucks that the casual viewer is just going to see cada as a big donk luckbox because of his two massive suckouts. he probably didnt make the best adjustments and played it a little too overaggro, more like you'd play an online tournament (because levels are shorter and most players have wider ranges), but i still think he's a very good player

Who cares what the casual viewer thinks? He's an online pro who supports himself with poker and just might win its most prestigious tournament. He deserves a great amount of respect for getting this far. I hope he takes it down.

I never thought I would see the day where i was LISTENING to the WSOP online with nothing but commentary, shows what Ivey can do for you. Even after he was eliminated I left it on while playing online poker. I have to admit I liked the cast of players they had this year. I like Buchman, I was sad to see himg go. Mood vs. Cada. I guess I like Moon, he would do great for poker again, cada had to many suckouts for me to support him.
