You can become rich, but you can become poor, if you forget about important things.

Its easier when you start with a large bankroll.
Turning 1$ into $100 can be as just as hard as turning $10,000 into $1,000,000
making your BR x100 is the same journey

A Gambler must not live on poker alone.

One thing I noticed while observing all the rich big wig poker players that made it in life and they're doing great.....THEY MADE A NAME FOR THEMSELVES! They didn't just play poker and that was it...no! They turned themselves into a franchise. Companies wanted to endorse them. They wrote books about how they play. They made deals with big companies. They have hundreds of thousands of views on Facebook and YouTube. Poker is not the only avenue at which these players are making their green! NOW!!!!!...They didn't just make a name for themselves by playing horribly, being a bad sport and tilting all the time(although I'm not sure about Phil Helmuth's case). A big part of the reason they made a name for themselves is because they were so freakin good that people had no choice but to notice them. They won tournaments. They crushed other players and they did make crazy money doing so too. So!!!.....with all that being said, I say become a good poker player hell, become a great poker player, but MAKE A NAME FOR YOURSELF while doing it...because endorsements is where the money is at to sustain you until your next big win. :)

Good point! But to be fair most of them had to "make" it on some level in poker (like in their actual poker playing) to be able to make a name for themselves.

Of course you can become rich playing poker. The problem is are you really good enough to play at that level over many years. To do it you will need to study hard, be patient and get yourself a bankroll. You will need to use smart bankroll management and realize it may take 10 years or more just to become a top level player.

Is it weird that I never really thought of the money aspect of poker? I mean really enjoy the strategy of the game itself. To me winning is all that matters not really the money part. Money is nice, but building my skill to play agains better opponents and higher stakes games is what really keeps me coming back to the table

Yes, but you have to be Daniel Negreanu. Either way, if the goal of playing poker is to make you rich ... I think you're wrong. If you want to be rich, work hard, have innovative ideas, persist, meet people who can help you ... In poker, you will only end up losing money. And you will be far from getting rich:cool::cool:

You Can But You Won’t

Very few people make a good living playing poker. They devote all of their time to the game and seem to have a knack for it. Most people, the vast majority, won’t. Play for fun, within your means.

In poker nothing is said, everything can happen in an instant, I had the experience of playing many tournaments in which I was in second or third place, but with a simple bad beat they eliminated me, there are two odds in poker to win or lose , that is to say that if a person could succeed in poker and make a lot of money but the bad thing is that he can also become poor, it is not always won but with a lot of discipline and study, these goals could be achieved

Everyone wants to get rich through poker, but only 20% of all players make money on it. I hope to get into those 20% of players someday :)

Depends what you mean by rich. Insanely rich, no. Couple of millions rich, yes. Include marketing if you're a great player and invest in other things and then you can get much richer

I would say that you can, but there are alot of less stressful ways of becoming rich other than poker.

You can do everything correctly and still lose money through being unlucky.
IMO, the variance in business is way smaller if you do the same amount of things correctly.

It's really not easy today to become rich from poker, maybe in the past..
The main point and what is being greatly underestimated is you have to be discplined & persistent. The focus always seems to be on how you can become this great poker or tournament player, to be a "crusher" so to speak but it isn't really about understanding the game or odds etc, that's things anyone can learn & understand. 95% of poker players lose money. Poker is only an option to get rich if you're really good and then you still have to watchc out that you don't blow away your winnings too while playing bigger buyins or being on a downswing...

I need to work a lot on the game and it's very hard - I play bots more and more and it's hard to treat poker as not just work, but as a favorite job - when you can't stay put

Of course you can become rich at playing poker. With all the tournaments with big payouts all you need is skill and a lot of luck and it is within your reach.

Yes, but unfortunately only a very small minority of players will and you have to keep that in mind.

Sure. The same way you can win the jackpot at the slot machine. It’s possible.

I think I could get rich through poker, but only through live poker. I can play live poker much better than online poker. In our city and throughout the country, all gambling establishments were closed. When poker clubs were opened, my main source of income was poker, this was a certain period in my life. I really love poker and especially live poker, and if I had the opportunity to travel and take part in various poker tournaments and events, I think I would definitely have achieved success in this area. I could sit at the poker table for 9-12 hours and I didn't get tired of it. I got up from the table and went home when I really wanted to sleep.
