No idea what my ROI was, I wish I knew, I don't keep track altho this year I did finally purchase PT4 in September so next year I can track all my results, but for this year I only have the past 4 months. I know my ROI was positive because I did end the year higher than when I started, by a couple hundred bucks (if I don't do anything stupid over the next week! LOL)
My biggest cash was a 4th place finish (out of 1694 entries) in a 10+1 tourney on ACR in September, cashing for a nice 620 net which pushed my bankroll up to a new high water mark of 1660... but since then, I've done nothing but lose lose lose and now i'm back to 1250... but no complaints, since I started from zero bankroll a few years ago. Never deposited, never withdrawn, and never will.
I don't really play for money, I play because I love poker, but I use my winnings to help me evaluate my progress and also because a higher bankroll allows me to compete against tougher competition. If I was playing purely to make money, I'd want to play against the worst players I can, but since I don't play to make money, I want to play against the toughest players I can, because that's the only way we get better. If I lose it all, oh well... I'd just have to run it up again and start a new challenge! But I am very aware of proper bankroll management and rarely "take shots" unless the tournament seems too good to pass up (such as during OSS series). I did take 3 shots recently, playing a 27.50 and two 22's, didn't cash in any of them tho, which is pretty typical when moving up like that. I will play 16.50's quite a bit, but in all honestly my level are the 6.60's which is 2% of my roll. That's where I should be playing and I seem to do okay in those. I rarely win but I do go deep often enough to slowly but surely keep the roll going in the right direction.
The problem is, the 6.60's just dont pay very much unless I make the top 3, which is quite rare. In 16.50's making a FT is a big bankroll boost for me, and even just making the money is a pretty decent score.
Oh, and of course I try to grind the CardsChat freerolls as often as I can (sometimes those are all I play) and they do help me to keep the bankroll steady... so thank you CardsChat!! Merry Christmas to all and best wishes in the New Year for much success!!
