If it's one against the other, I'll take the 77, but assuming it's against something entirely different, I'll take the AK, because it's less likely to be dominated and more likely to be in a dominating position.

I think AK has the highest percentage of victory that 77, because the chances of appearing in the A or K flop, turn or river are very good. so are the two highest cards in the deck as you can lose 77 to various combinations.

AK is actually behind if it was just those two hands heads up, 77 will win 52-55% of the time depending if any of the AK suits match up with any of the 7s. But 77 is an easily dominated hand, and usually at best ur a coinflip. you can never dominate unless somehow someone else pushed with 22-66 with you. Otherwise your either an 80-20 dog or a very very slight favorite. The only hand that you can dominate that isnt an underpair is something like A7. While with AK not only is it hard to be dominated (only by AA and KK) but you can dominate many other hands such as AQ and AJ.

AK and it's not even close.

Against a range of 77+/AQs+/AK (a realistic range imo for the end of a tourney scenario)

77 against that range: 30.5%
AK against that range: 44%

BTW you have to have TT or better to have better equity against that range than you do with AK.

This. Honestly cant say it better so i wont try lol:D

In my opinion AK is a chip magnet. If I'm shoving, then I prefer a pair.

Heads up I'd go with 77 anyday because you'd be leading.
3-way probably still 77 because the other two might have one or both of each others outs.
4 or more it's pretty much a coin flip to decide whether to coin flip or not :)

On my opinion AK - 77 on preflop all-in it's a roulette. It's 50/50.

If you have more than 20BB then you should not go all-in, but raise with both hands (in most scenarios).

If you have less than 20BB then it's a much better to raise/call with AK, because people will 3bet you with hands like Ax-AT, Kx-KJ that you dominate, but may fold to your shove.

For the same reason it's better to go all-in with 77, because you gain from fold equity when hands like Ax-AT, Kx-KJ fold (granted not always).

This is a very slippery subject, the fact is that you need to fold for a big raise, so it's safer, but you can go to limps of others, but you need to look at the setting at the table. AK in my opinion you need to always play on the flop, very not a great chance to catch outs. In any case, 77 and AK in position is not the same without position.

...mathematically against any two random unpaired over-cards. Yes, 22 is favored over AK suited or unsuited (approximately 51% to 49%). It's still considered a coin-toss and referred to as a 50-50 decision though.

...and even though it is the best drawing hand pre-flop, it is still a drawing hand. It isn't a pair, and may never be. There is no guarantee you'll improve at all. THAT is why any pair is favored. Don't believe me. Check with ANY Poker Calculator, poker book or well known poker professional.

I think

Which hand is better pre flop allin?

I noticed alot players go allin with these two hands.

It depends on stack, position, those who mindlessly throw those hands all-in , fish. To increase your chances of winning, you need to know more of the intricacies of the game

This is if we consider in heads up, and if 9max, then everything depends on the position, and the rivals' bets

You don't even have to check with a well-known poker pro... you can just read back through the thread & find the answer.

Hope this one helps you out.

Have fun on the tables!
