JJ has a slight all-in pre-flop edge, but most people don't care about that. If it's not being shoved pre-flop I definitely prefer AK.

JJ has a slight all-in pre-flop edge, but most people don't care about that. If it's not being shoved pre-flop I definitely prefer AK. JJ is horribly vulernable on most flops, even something like 89J suited is a risky flop. AK is an easy fold. JJJ not so much.

I prefer AK, I've lost all-in to JJ at final tables and on the bubble that I won't forget. I remember one bubble where I was down to about 10 chips, if I remember correctly it was a 77 vs JJ, the flop came 27KA7, the three of them killed me and I was left short on chips, I barely made the money.

If a jack comes up, you have a set and your chances of winning increase to over 90%.

Haha LUKADONCICMVP, that's the classic poker curse. No matter which side of the AK vs JJ matchup you're on, it always feels like you're drawing dead!
To answer FriedEggSandwch, pocket Jacks are actually a small favorite against Ace-King preflop, usually around 54-57%, depending on suits. So if the money goes in before the flop, JJ wins slightly more often than it loses.
That said, I agree with Flyer35. Deep-stacked, AK is often easier to play. When you hit top pair, you usually have a strong hand. JJ can be tricky because every Ace, King, or Queen on the flop makes you wonder where you stand.
So if we're talking about a preflop all-in, I'll take JJ. If we're playing deep-stacked with plenty of postflop action left, I slightly prefer AK because of its playability.
