1.) On turn I answered that I would bluff
Villain was check calling and we have chance to hit highest pair on river. Only one thing which could go wrong is that we have only 1900 $ so bet should be at least 900.
2.) After bluff on the turn Ace and again check from opponent puts us in very good spot to shove 🤔 ??

My answer to the quiz are.
1. In the turn the hero doesn’t bluff because the cards doesn’t favor to do bluff is very dry and the villain should be have pair, because he doesn’t protect his hand.
2. In the river yes is a good chance to bluff because the hero start the hand with aggressively and he should be bet.

How do I ensure that the betting pattern (bet size, street) I am using is consistent with the strong hands I would be value betting in that same situation?

Bluffing is an aspect of my game that needs improving. I was happy to get the answers to the quiz correct but the question is; would I have the guts to pull the trigger and bluff in a tournament?!

This is something that I can be on the lookout for - spots to bluff. I do semi-bluff and c-bet a decent amount of the time with okay results. The challenge is to find the spot to bluff when the community has missed me completely. The consideration though, is the cards should be in my range or at least I can ride out a scare card and fire a bluff.

Bluffing is an art form combined with experience. To use it effectively, you need to remain cool-headed and have a good understanding of your opponent's playing style. There is a golden rule: do not bluff against a "fish" or an unfamiliar opponent. The correct move for the quiz scenario is to check on the river; the board had become highly coordinated by the turn, meaning the arrival of the 6 could have completed strong hands for the opponent or turned their hand into two pair. However, on the river—with an Ace appearing and the opponent checking—we should bet and take down the pot; the opponent's lack of aggression signals a weak hand.

I really liked this lesson because it showed that bluffing is not simply about being aggressive or trying to make an opponent fold. Choosing the right situation seems much more important.


I especially found the idea of looking at the opponent, the board and the action before deciding to bluff useful. A bluff makes much more sense when there is a believable story behind it.


One thing I’m still wondering about is how much the opponent’s playing style should influence the decision. For example, would you generally avoid bluffing against a player who rarely folds, even if the situation looks like a good bluffing spot?


I think learning when not to bluff may be just as important as learning when to bluff. ❤️
