I think becoming a winning player is less about reaching a specific point in time and more about gradually improving your decision-making. For me, the biggest changes would come from understanding position, bankroll management, and learning to separate good decisions from short-term results. How did you know you had actually become a winning player rather than just being on a good run?

I don't consider myself a winner yet, since I haven't won any major awards—it's been over 7 years now. lol

Haha, I think you're being a bit too cruel to yourself 😂 I don't think you need any award to consider yourself a winning player. I'm still alive and kicking after 7 years so I guess it's not that bad! The achievements do not necessarily reflect the gameplays 😄

I'm still working towards becoming a winning player. Right now I'm focusing more on learning and improving than making money. I've noticed that the more I study my mistakes and stay disciplined, the better my results become. I know becoming consistently profitable will take time and experience.

What exactly do you mean by a “losing player”? Do you mean someone who loses money overall, or someone whose results are below what would be expected from a profitable player?

But feels like im gradually improving. Everyone will always have losses, even if you are best player on the planet, it just happens.

If u r about microlimits and higher depends on ur skill, patience and bankroll managment

And part of success is just luck.I would say aim for a 3 month training period.Your goal at the beginning is to break even. Then slowly develop your game, adding more and more winning strategies and tendencies.

I mean, someone who has a net loss overall, so like how much volume it took you until your results showed that you are consistently profitable instead of just good or bad in a small sample size.

Ah, got it. In that case, I think you need a pretty big sample before you can really say you’re consistently profitable. A few good months or a couple of big tournament wins can be misleading because of variance. I’d rather look at a large number of hands or tournaments and see if the results are still positive over time. For me, consistency is much more important than one big score.
