What's the best advice you'd give to a new poker player?

If I could give just one piece of advice to beginners, it would be to focus on learning the fundamentals instead of chasing quick wins. A lot of new players worry too much about results and getting lucky, but poker is a long-term game. Learn position, understand basic hand ranges, manage your bankroll, and review your decisions after sessions. Losing is part of the process, so try to focus on whether you made the right play rather than whether you won the pot. The players who improve are usually the ones who stay patient and keep learning.

Spend more time studying than playing at first. Growing your skills then your experiences will turbo charge poker success.

If I was only limited to one piece of advice to give a newer player that wasn't posted above already. It would be learn and play both cash(full-ring) and MTT's. The majority of us have jobs and cash can be played in the evening or after work for 2-3 hours on weekdays. MTT's can be played on weekends. I do personally because I like and enjoy 10+ min or longer blind level MTT's. They take more then a 2-3 hours I have during the weekdays/evenings and I don't enjoy the lottery turbos that are basically turn into all-in shove-fest's way to soon.

Focus entirely on mastering pre-flop position and folding, not on making big bluffs or fancy plays.

The best advice I'd give to a new poker player is be patient and master the fundamentals first. Learn solid preflop ranges, respect position, and don't feel like you have to play every hand. Folding is a winning decision much more often than beginners realize.
I'd also recommend starting at the lowest stakes or in freerolls, protecting your bankroll, and reviewing your mistakes after each session. Poker is a marathon, not a sprint—the players who keep learning and stay disciplined are the ones who succeed in the long run.

What would I advise to a new player? That would be actually a pretty mixed answer in my opinion. The first thing I would tell them is to never play more than one game at a time. If you're learning the game, there's no sense in multi-tabling. You got so much you could see and learn from just by observing other players that playing more than one table would be a mistake. The second thing I would tell them, you need to study the game. If you're just playing and having fun, that's fine. Go in there, play for your entertainment, and don't worry about it. But if you seriously want to become a better player, I would suggest studying a bit before you really jump into the game heavily. I mean, basic aspects of this game, in many ways players underestimate because, yeah, they're simple, but putting them into proper use takes time and understanding. And the more you understand, the more likely you are to go deep in a tournament or win in a cash game. The third bit of advice may be one of the most important pieces that I think most players actually forget to utilize each and every day. What is the reason you took up this game? It's because it's a fun game. We love poker. We can just have fun for a small amount of money. We can win a lot of money and maybe make it a career. But the thing is, what did you start playing poker for? And what made you want to come back and play more? It's the enjoyment of the game. Don't forget that's what you started playing for, not for money or anything else. Always remember, it's a game that you enjoy. And if you always enjoy the game, it's not going to feel like work.
