Unlike most other hobbies you can actually end up winning money in poker. So maybe its more reasonable to ask, if its a waste of time. This is something, each individual has to answer himself. For sure playing poker is not particularly productive but neither are many other activities like watching movies or playing video games. As long as your hobby does not affect your personal life, your professional life or your financial situation in a negative way, everything is probably fine.

If you are the worst player on the table, then yes you are likely wasting your time and money

If you are above average on the table, then you are likely making money and enjoying your time

The key is how much you study, how well you understand the game relative to your opponents, how well you play, and how much you enjoy it.

It's not for everyone, but personally I LOVE IT! <3

It really depends on 2 things. If you don't enjoy playing - and you spend more money than you can afford to spend playing - then yes it is a waste of money.

For the majority of players it is. There's an opportunity cost to improving your poker skills and it's questionable if you'll ever get enough of a return to justify it.

I enjoy the game...but I'm not constant.....I play few hands well and I screw it next 😅(that is what it's killing me)(and when I lose I let my emotions to control me..,so thats way I lose money...I know what my bad habits are...I'm trying to fix them)

From the practical point of view it is simple if you lose money if it is but if your balance is positive it is not, also as most have told you can lose money but if you enjoy playing then it is a well invested money even if you never win since you are paying for a hobby
