Poker profitable? Or not?

Unfortunately, I have not really profitable. I usually paid 50 usd. but I'm losing end of the month. It was bigger prize you? If so write about it. Good luck for everyone

From my own perspective, To play Poker is not a money making activity.

You play Poker to have fun, invest some money win some, loose some.

The only way you will get a significant win is to play a Big buy in Tournament but of course you may also loose big!
No Strategy is safe as the famous Variance will get you very often. :deal:

In order for you to become profitable in poker, you must follow some rules.

-stay focused
-manage very well your bankroll
-study a lot
-practice a lot.
-dedicate yourself

this is the receipt for success.

Its take some time to be profitable and a lot of study,i started whit 30$ on poker stars,now i play only in 888 poker, now i get about 300$/month,its not much but i ll try to do more in few years ,but you must love this game,not play becouse of money!i suggest new players to play only mtt not cash games ,there is to hard to get money,just my opinion!
So yea poker is profitable if u use your head and controll emotions!but dont be greedy....

I think it is. Lot's of practice is the main thing.

Profitable if you approach the game intelligently and competently read articles and books to have nerves of steel)

think the last i read less than 5% of players make a profit, would bet that % is higher for forum players

If you want to be profitable you have to treat the game with long term results in mind and also be willing to put in the time to get better.

Poker can be profitable but it depends what you want to poker, many people play for fun, others for just playing, other pro.
If you study, focus, and want this to your life, it can be profitable.

Well I would hope that at some point it gets profitable, because that's why i'm here, and that's why i'm playing poker at all. Of course it is nice time spending too, but my main motivation to get better definitely is to make some cash. Hoping at some point to play in some serious tournaments. Wish you all the luck!

Live I'm profitable online it's pretty back and fourth but lately not really.

but when playing directly for money we get away a little of the fun since ay more preciones to win much you invest and to and more risks of losing so on a losing streak can be very frustrating it is best q empiezes little to get to know the game and its limits and your style of play that suits you

1. patience
one good advice i received from professionals is you cannot win a mtt tournament in the first hour.
2. perseverance
you are going to lose at times awful losses but you just got to get back on that horse and ride em again
3. adaptability
the ability to change styles of play based on what you are facing at that time

a sidenote there is till youve played a certain amount of hands and basically seen every hand imaginable you still are an infant in this game imho
after play 10,000s of thousands of hands you probably have learned a few nice things and should have a pretty full toolbox and as/when needed you can pull it out to pull off wins over bubbling etc..

4. studying
you have to be open to continually learning (no one is a master at poker) otherwise they would win everygame everytime somehow no matter what are dealt how bad variance is etc. there is always more you can learn

5. Notes
identifying your opponnents deciphering how you can use their tendencies in order to add chips and beat them.

Last thing can not only live on poker alone one good advice from the pokerkid was simply have a full good life outside of poker. Meaning family friends doing things and not being so driven that poker is only thing that you live in this bubble.

You will be more successful if have a full good life cause then you can play for fun. If is no pressure you play for love of it and are not driven by the money when you get a shot at the money you should have a good shot of TID

not to be pompus, but I think people even thous who play hve a bit wrong idea about making poker money. the fanatasy is you have last 5$ you win a sat. then agains, then agains and then you win OneDrop,wsop ME or something of that magnitude, in reality it is a grind after all
