Funnily enough, I learnt to play online, using a tutorial I found on holdempoker.com quite a while ago... since then I've progressed from playing with play money chips onto real money.... also playing some games for some decent money with friends. How about you? Where did you learn?

TV introduced me, then my friends and I started playing.

Online is where Ive grown most though.

Starting to play long years ago for fun with family.
Then once in university, well .... when you're 5 or 6 mates and nothing to do in particular, cards games take shortly the front of the scene.
Never really stop playing and, maybe 6 months ago, watching WPT on TV, have heard about poker on the internet and give me a chance to come into this wonderful land :D

I learnt....

I learned to play in about 1998 at Ladbrokes.com used to get stitched a lot there but I think I was calling all sorts of rubbish back then, Im a little better now although I would say Im still very under disciplined when it comes to certain decisions....

Thats mine..

learned

I learned to play poker from watching some of my friends play at my apartment. Then I began playing with them and then some online.
I really started to "learn" how to play poker from reading up on articles online and playing in online games.

Offline & online

I learned offline over 15 years ago. No money involved just chips, drinks, and smoke. That lasted about 7-8 months before taking off to EU where I played there again a lot and this time for dinheiro... with chips, drinks, and smoke.

Then in 2000 online poker got my attention, I started at some now very famous places. Today I play in smaller, less exposed room where the offers, bonus, league games, and freeroll are nice and juicy.

Less people the better = quicker games, no waiting time, better service.

See you at the tables!

It's tha same with me. I have learned to play poker online. Lately I also play life tournaments. You learn so much more by playing life. Sometimes I got the feeling that online poker isn't fear at all, but by life poker it's all up to your self.

This post started long ago but its a good one lol
I actually learned how to play stud from my Dad and his brothers. Dad would let us kids watch then after the adults were done the kids could play. I first played in a casino in 1990 in a 25 cent ante game of holdem. Been hooked ever since.

When I was growing up my father played in games every week. I would go with him or watch him in the home games and that is where I first learned and grew to have a interest in poker!:deal:

The first game I learned was pitch, been playing for money with that for ever. But so many more people play poker that I just kind of picked it up along the way.

My dad taught me to play when I was about 9-years old. In high school my buddies and I played during lunch and then after school fairly often. I didn't know how badly we played until I took a trip to Reno and played against some tougher players:)

Always played cards with grandparents, older relatives although never holdem, played stud, brag etc. Then started playing with freinds 3 or 4 years ago after watching one of the wsop shows on TV and then moved on to online poker.

i got hooked watching wpt on tv. Saw the ad for pokerstars and jumped on it. Used play money for a while just to see how fast I could lose it by being loose and not really having any skill. Went on to" play money "sit and gos which helped a great deal. Then off to money tables. Enjoy my games the most on real money tables and now tourneys but watch out for those little 3 and 5 rebuy tourneys. It seems the people are looser than the play money. Have learned to be sooooooo patient.

I learned forst from my father and not only poker but tons of other games. I taught my self omaha h and h/l. But for getting better at hold'em which is what i mainly play took no time to lear but to get better has taking lots of hard work. Watching others play see their stratagies and just try to better yourself. The one saying i think is true is "hold'em takes 5 minutes to learn but a lifetime to master." I think there will never be a #1 player but there will be good players and great players. Wow got off subject there but yeah mostly learned from my dad and myself.
