I started playing poker at local free tournaments as a way of spending time with my friends. I quickly got hooked on the people as ell as the fun and challenge, especially after my first tournament win. I started playing online to learn more. I look forward to learning even more from you !

Mac !

its kinda funny my hubby taought me to play but not that well then he let me play with his real money account that started at $450 when iw as done it was down to noting. I told him maybe if he would have helped me i wouldnt have lost it all. he wasent to mad but now its been about 6 months and i know how to play good!

I started playing poker in the 6th grade and learned from my dad. He used too have tournaments at our house all the time with a bunch of people. And i was tired of sitting there and watching them and not knowing how too play. So he taught me how to play, and now im in love with it!

i have been playing cards most of my life..I was in a friends bail bond office 2 years ago and they were playing on line texas holdem. Looked like fun so i started on ps. I'm still learning

I began with Partypoker playmoney, at present play only holdem.
The other Poker is not for me.

Played many many years ago when introduced to it by some friends and we played home games. Then I started watching it on tv. After that I got online and played alot with free money while reading every site on the internet I could find about it.

After I got ok at it I started in freerolls just for large tourney experience. that was actually a mistake for a while, I started playing alot looser/risker etc... like so many others do in them. Finally realized when I wasn't even making the top 50% consistently that had to change. Thankfully before I started playing with real money.

I'm still learning 😉

but I started year ago - and learned it from my husband.

Now I'm playing better than he does 😀

I learnt online, new some of the basics but did not know that a full house or straight beat three of a kind etc.
I am still not sure about how some ties are split when one has a higher card but I've learnt alot in three years now.
Having fun!

learned to play poker online mostly playing freerolls,Quite a shock when starting to play for real money as i didnt realise the difference in play, I now play a reasonable game, mostly on titan

i played on my laptop i believe it was pc game called
Hoyle Card Games 2004 ,then once i got better, played @ party pok.
now i play @ home with friends and family and online @ FullTilt.

i learned to play most card games by a silly casino game i had for computer thoght most time i wouldnt know what the hell was going on in razz i saw cp folding king and aces 😀 and thinking what??

WSOP

Watching the wsop every year at Binion's.
We hit Vegas/Reno every year so added this to the itinerary.
This was however when they ran earlier in the year... april/May
then May/June and it didn't run for 6 weeks.
Completely different feel standing in that room vs RIO now. Glad I got to experience it.
Of course this was when you could stand 5' away from the tables and see action. Wawtched Fergusen's final table in 2000.
To get playing time I too went online and thru casino and cardplayer mags learned of the online sites opening up so joined those immediately.
We also play at weekly turneys at local casinos.

Poker leagues

I learned to play in poker leagues at local bars. In my area a lot of bar owners are having tournaments. Some as many as four nights a week. I just decided to sit down and try it. I have been hooked ever since. I think it is a good way to learn because its free. However people don't play near as loose as online play tables. Anybody else play live cards in tournaments?

my cousin introduced me to the game in december 06. since then i've been playin only play money, but i realised that the people playing these tournaments arn't very good so i could never really try and make plays at a pot because they would call with anything and go allin with like KJ

Started watching the WSOP in 04 and got hooked on it, that's pretty much how I "learned" to play the game!

i wacthed it on tv then downloaded it from internet then started playing... then moved onto my friends and now i kick there but

Why did the US do it??

I learned on the pokerstars site before it stopped U.S. play! 🙁 😡

sportsbook.com, actually made profit gave it all back on a horrible football weekend

after getting harrington on holdem as a gift from a poker-playing friend. enjoyed the book, decided to enjoy the game as well. 🙂

With my Fam

I learned to play poker through my fanily. We always had games on the weekends and I enjoyed cleaning up. Made good cash for a teenager winning almost every other weekend at over $100 a game. 🙂

playing with my uncle and his buddies... took a while to learn but eventually i got the hang of it...
