I became aware of poker by watching a television show on German TV where some celebrities were playing a tourney. It looked like fun, so I started to learn the rules by reading some pages on the web. Soon later I discovered about online poker, downloaded a client (the first one was Everest poker) and soon became sort of addicted.

I learned to play original five card poker a couple of years ago from a book and from a friend. then I found texas hold'em in a computer game, and I started to love it, so played it with friends, and now online.

I learnt to play with my family. Every time there was a family get together we'd have a night of poker - only small money though. But from then on i have loved it and played it ever since.

I learned to play online , 1st at play money tables , then noticed the sites held freerolls to win actuall cash and i was hooked lol

My father was a long time poker player as well as a chess player, so he taught me both games.

I learned to play online. I basically got killed for the first year or so before it started to "click." I slowly picked up on wagering and tried to read as much as I could. I may still get killed at the tables on occasion, but when my chips are all in, I am very seldomly behind in the hand...

my friend told me about a fascinating game called poker...so i downloaded pkr.com client and started playing...for play money(lol). Then i started to play freerolls, read books, watch videos...now im better than all of my friends in NLHE.

I learned to play when I was a kid. My mother's cousin used to come over on Saturdays and he would let us win money so we would have spending money.

i started playing at a home game group, but only learned how to get drunk and broke real fast 😀 . i got into the online and been at it for years, i am no pro by far, but am improving to become better than the average nub😛

HI!

hi, i started playing at pokerstars for play chips but now want to play for real money, most of the freerolls are even worse than play chips for idiots going all in. Were is the best place to go and play for real with low stakes?? or where are the best freerolls, HELP ME!! lol

I learned watching at family parties. My dad and all my uncles as well as older cousins played all the time. I am of Italian heritage so there was always a lot of family at the get togethers. And the men would play.

i learnt to play texas holdem watching people through a window at the turningstone casino in verona new york.

like the most people here i guess, viva poker online!
from donkey to how i like to think of myself a little shark.
i did that in a few years
from play money to ring games,tournaments... i did them all
gl at the tables everybody

on the kitchen table back at granny's!

i was 4, my grand parents always played card games in the evenings. they took care of me and i always insisted on staying up. i learned the game real quick (they played stud and 5 card draw though)
got into online play only about a year ago.
brag: ive done the chris fergusson challenge... twice! :-D
only bad thing is, i cashed out and started from zero again. its just for fun on my free time though so its all good🙂

I learned the basics of the game a year ago watching the wsop on tv, i really enjoied watching the game so i started playing in my home against my brothers, but it didn't last long because they get tired of playing. In my country poker is not a very played game like in U.S.

About a month ago i downloaded everest poker and started playing the free sitngos with a very little knowledge of the game, i've managed to make $0,45.Then i swich to ring games and make that into $7 (was very lucky).
You can imagine that i was getting very excited, my first experience in online poker and i make $7 out of nothing!!
So i went to play more ring games, putting more cash on the tables and finally i end up loosing it all.
Now i'm still learning the game, that's why i joined this forum.

first time poker

I've learned playing at tropical poker.
They had nice freeroll all day long, unfortunatly they had suddenly closed down. Never found out why.
After that moved on to dawghouse poker and Partypoker.
Still learning the game!

Goodluck for all

I learned how to play poker about 3 years ago from a guy I worked with and I have been hooked ever since.

a friend told me about that he plays poker online and i tried as well and know after a few years i would like to brag that a am pretty good at it

Used to watch WSOP and tv shows. Then decided to buy one of the semi decent clay-metal feeling chip sets and from then have started a big poker tourney trend in my area. Worked out for the good : D. Only like 5-10 dollar buy in but those tourneys can go for hours.

First time I saw poker was on tv.. I was looking in the night and saw some programs on tv.. On Internet I was playing sportsbetting and they had also poker.. I was looking for it and try some games to get some experience 🙂 In the begin I lose alot of money but now I am a winning player !
