I believe it is a kind of curve, like in sports: when you are a beginner, you improve alot by studying. As intermediate, you study and improve, but slower and slower. The better is your skill, the harder it is to improve and the more effort it requires. When someone reaches the pointthey are a good player, I think they will be a good player "forever" - even if they stopped playing for 10 years - when they return to the game, after some short reminder - they will play a good game.

However...

It all depends on the level they need and want to play. If they want to be at the top - they need to study all the time.

Can you stay a good poker player without studying the game?

I think it depends a lot on the games/ level of your opponents too, but in general (IMO) you need to always study and keep improving your poker game and stay above the player pool that improves over time... though, I also partially agree with the members that said that after you reach a certain level- you can get away without studying(or at least reducing the hours you put into it)- still, for how long you can get away without 'work' is questionable... maybe for longer time if you play in soft games, luck/ hot runs can be a factor too(but from my experience variance can be a 'b***h'...); so if you take poker seriously- just study as often as possible- you cannot stay Good without putting in the work!

NO, if you don't apply yourself to studying, your opponents, studying with those who are professionals, will not improve, will not win great prizes.

Honestly, not for long.
You can become a decent player through experience and intuition, but staying good in today’s poker environment requires continuous learning. The game evolves fast strategies, player pools, and even bet sizing trends change over time.
If you stop studying, you’ll slowly fall behind players who keep improving. Studying doesn’t always mean reading charts all day it can be reviewing hands, watching replays, discussing spots with others, or using tools to analyze your leaks.
Experience teaches you what happens.
Study teaches you why it happens.
So, to stay sharp and profitable : you need both.

Yes, you can be a decent player without studying , but you can't be a good player in a sustainable way without doing so.

I think that you never stop learning, so you should keep studying even if you have won a lot of money in poker. For example, there is a player that I like, zerospoker, who has won a lot of money, and he always uploads videos to YouTube, where he studies with solvers, and one is inspired by seeing poker's passion for poker, and by continuing to study and improve, even though he is already a professional player.

I believe that by repeating events and specific plays at a certain buy-in value, I would be able to maintain a good level of play.
I see poker as something quite repetitive and with a certain randomness, where having a well-balanced mind will make this experience profitable in the long run.
That's just my opinion.

Online no way the new strategies work. In-person games are a different story. Reading skill never goes out of style

н No. the game requires extensive work both in the field of knowledge and in poker training, discipline, attentiveness, self-control, stress resistance, and the ability to wait. If you don’t learn, then your mistakes and the end result in generating income will disappoint you, and then you will either leave the games or start training

I think it's not necessary to study to make money in poker, sometimes playing with instinct is better.

Yes, and part of that is understanding new behaviours in the game. Different approaches come in trend and can sometimes disappear as quickly as they come. Knowing about these will help you understand what approach a player may take.

Even with all their experience, professionals continue to study. Perhaps they don't study as much as they did at the beginning, but they still do in some way. So, to answer your question, I don't think they can improve without studying.

If you have the talent and have studied for a long time, you will notice the changes and can partially adapt.
Of course, you will not be as good as if you were constantly studying, but you can still be good and successful.

I'm just starting out in the game, and the little study I've done has helped me a lot. I believe this is the fastest way to achieve good results. Even someone with a natural talent for understanding the game's basic mathematics shouldn't give up on seeking out the freely available content on social media to improve their game.

I believe you should always study or seek to delve deeper into the subject to improve your game, and experience will also elevate your game.

I think you can, if you have more of an emptional than logical intelligence, you can use your instincts to read the game. Oftenly it's not even about your hole cards or the board, but about what your guts are telling you. Of course this only can apply live, when you feel the situation around you. But to stud the game is never a bad idea. Actually, if you have more of a logical intelligence, you need to study the game to remain good.
