For me, the biggest distraction when playing poker at home is definitely my dog. šŸ˜„ He always seems to choose the exact moment when I’m in an important hand to come over, ask for attention, or start making noise. It can definitely break my concentration, especially during longer sessions. At the same time, I can’t really complain too much — he’s part of the family. I usually try to play when he’s more relaxed or tired, so I can stay focused and avoid unnecessary distractions.

When I start a poker session I close the room door and set my phone on mute in order to avoid all distractions

I have no choice, its either play with a child hanging off your leg or do not play at all. If you get the chance to play alone cherish it.

Home distractions are one of the biggest challenges when playing online poker. Phone notifications, TV, family conversations, or even social media can break your concentration and lead to costly mistakes. I try to create a quiet playing environment by silencing my phone, closing unnecessary Apps, and avoiding multitasking during sessions. Even a few seconds of lost focus can affect an important decision. For me, treating poker like a serious activity rather than just a casual game helps me stay disciplined and play my best.

I usually try not to play serious poker when there are too many distractions at home, especially during important MTT stages or long cash-game sessions.

Kids and family naturally need attention, and poker requires concentration. One distraction can make you miss an action, time out, or make a costly decision.

For casual games, it's manageable, but for tournaments where you may play for several hours, I prefer to let my family know in advance and play in a quiet environment when possible.

Family comes first, poker comes second—but having a distraction-free setup definitely helps you play your best game.

I definitely have the same problem. When I’m playing, I need to be completely focused, so even small distractions can affect my decisions. I usually try to play when nobody needs anything from me, but that’s not always possible.

Sometimes I think taking a short break is better than continuing to play while being distracted. Losing focus can be more expensive than losing a few minutes of playing time. šŸ˜„

Home distractions can definitely affect your decisions without you noticing. I try to keep the environment quiet when playing seriously, because one distracted decision can cost more than a few minutes of concentration.

I really prefer to play alone, but not only because of my concentration on the game, also because friends and even my girlfriend complain that I'm playing poker while I'm with them, and putting myself in their shoes it's really annoying not to pay attention to someone, of course, if you go out with that person, if they come to your house I would say it's more their fault than yours, but anyway, I avoid it so I don't have uncomfortable moments or meaningless betting
