I try to play with lower buy ins and in some cases varying with cash games where the profit is lower but if played intelligently most of the time you can make a profit.

The only way to deal with variance is to accept it...so even if we play strong hands like "AA" or "KK" sometimes we will lose with these hands...poker is a game of probability...so variance it's part of the game ...

For this you can consult the Poker Books to clarify some doubts about this subject, here in cardschat there are many articles that talk about this issue of variance.
However, it is something that cannot be foreseen or expected, perhaps there is no way to manage this situation, when consulting books and articles, perhaps some information will be able to help you.

Variance is apart of poker. You can’t have one without the other, so in my opinion there’s nothing to “deal”with. Its just there and sometimes its nice and sometimes its not. 🙂

you just play and accept it without it, it's like poker, or you accept and play poker or quit poker, there's no other choice:I CAN'T laugh:

There is only one way to deal with the variance : Be patient and accept that it's part of the game.
But it's possible to avoid MTTs where the variance is high.

I just accept it. After so many years playing it's gotten easier lol. I usually handle variance/downswings by cutting back and only playing/less or 1 table when in a downswing. When running decent or hot I'll double table and play as much as I can.

If it's bad enough or long enough downswing I'll just take a break from playing, do something else with my time for a bit yet still study poker a couple days a week. I then come back when I feel mentality ready to play and get the itch to play again. Being mentality ready too come back playing after a break which started with a big downswing is important. Worse case you also decide too step down in stakes upon returning.

Cheers!!!

Some players try to reduce variance by not taking risks, though this is doable to a certain extent, in MTTs especially there is always a high amount of variance due to the shorter stacks and players being forced to clash after going all-in, etc.

It’s better to just embrace and more importantly understand the madness of variance than try to avoid it. In reality, if you aren’t ready to deal with the variance of playing poker over a long stretch of time, then it just isn’t the game for you. Also just to note, variance is the root cause of all bad beat stories around the world, so let’s face it, it has a lot to answer for!

As others have said, just accepting it is my approach too. Easier said than done at times but that's what poker is about!

Sometimes it's on your side and sometimes it's against you, it happens again and again in poker but we usually only remember it when it was against us and forget it when it was on our side too

Can't do anything about it... It sure is a pain in the butt sometimes, but if you did the right long term call, that's fine. The thing we really need to do about it is manage to differ what is a wrong call and what is a variance hit. Study to have a real good gameplay is main tatics against variance.

U can only play your A Game and the Rest isn´t in your hands... 😉

One thing that separates the best players from the rest is the ability to focus on decision making rather than short-term outcomes. If you focus on your short term results, no matter how good you are, you will tilt a lot. In fact, the better you play, the more likely you are to tilt when things don't go your way. This feeling is caused primarily by a sense of injustice. You did everything right and still lost the pot or were eliminated from the tournament. But if you only focus on making the best possible decision with all the information available, and put aside short-term results, you will avoid much of the negative emotion. While you probably won't be able to avoid tilt in all its forms, what matters is what you do when it happens and how you deal with tilt.

The only way for me is accept that variance/bad beats will happen all the time on poker. I review the hand and if I think I made the right decision, I move on and play the next table/tournament.

By the time I've played, I've gotten used to it. In the beginning I played very low values. Today I already understand that everything is the same regardless of the value.

Accepting it, Variance it's part of the game the best way to deal it, it's constantly evaluate your game and check if you're making the best decisions, at the table, and of course a law of poker if you don't want to lose all your bankroll it is to handle a good bankroll strategy, being conservative you can fight against all variance that will come because they will come the thing is you never know when 😏

Be aware of the variance and play more games to even it. Looks for the long term +ve play your doing and learn from your mistake.

Variance doesn't exist solely within the cards; the players are their own variant, imo. Getting to know each players' style of play will help you put them on hand-ranges in certain situations, in certain positions, blinds, etc. The variance within the cards is more or less finite. It's your cards vs 1,368 other starting combinations. Playing them in different ways in different positions can borderline infinite, perhaps. Choosing good cards pf and playing them accordingly is all you can do short of limping w/AA and hoping for a raise which, apparently, is some sort of play. Happened the other night to me but I cracked them when on my all-in flop brought the villain a set of aces on an A-J-6 board and then a 10 spiked on the turn. My KQc's held up thru the river and I doubled-up and then some. Can't forget the luck factor.
Also, try to remember to take it one decision at a time. Don't pull a "Mikey" and start thinking about your upcoming "victory" or think you've won the hand, (unless it's the absolute nuts) because that's when bad things can happen. GL.

just keep playing if you're doing things right you're not always going to lose
