It's a real problem; you need to switch operators and choose one that offers quality service in your area.

In Ukraine, we have more problems with electricity than with communication. Sometimes even during long outages, home and mobile Internet continues to work. But it is difficult with electricity. especially in the heat and frost.

I only play when I'm at home, so if my internet connection goes down, I usually have other options, like switching to mobile data or using another connection. It doesn't happen often, but I know how frustrating it is when it happens at a crucial moment.

It happens from time to time, but yeah, it sucks. Besides, the extra downtime caused by the disconnection usually isn't very helpful in those situations. I also keep my phone nearby.

Do you hate it when the interruption of internet comes from the site itself. I had to take a replacement league games a few time because of that. Dammit.

That sucks, I got disconnected especially on GG, don't know why. Sometimes playing at 3 different sites only GG disconnects.

The poker sites generally consider a player's internet connection to be the player's own responsibility. Only in exceptional situations—such as a widespread server outage affecting many players—may the site pause the tournament or apply its refund policy.

Many moons ago, when I first started playing online, before cable internet, with dial-up phone landline connections, getting disconnected was very common, and sites gave all-in protection if you were disconnected during a hand. People abused this, intentionally disconnecting to not have to call large bets and still finish a hand. They gradually did away with it, going to only 2 or 1 protections per a certain time period or session, and then none I live six miles outa town, buried in the woods and I was able to get cable internet in 2003 which has been very stable over the years, though I only average about 12 mbs these days, while folks in town have fiber internet now with insane speeds, 500mbs, even some over 1000mbs. I don't think they'll ever run fiber out here, but my connection is mostly sufficient now with only one thing running the internet at a time. The only site I have any problems with is Replay, and I don't think it's on my end...

If I am using wifi and I start to disconnect during a tournament, I sometimes try to connect to a cellular hotspot in hopes it'll hold the connection during wifi reconnection.

But if I am playing on cellular data and start disconnecting without access to other networks, that's just unlucky and I can only hope it gets a solid signal soon lol, it happened a lot, so I just started to avoid playing online outside of home.

I don't want that to anyone. It happened to me and it's horrible being at a final table and I was punching when the connection returned the tournament had ended, and despite everything, I was in fifth place. It's the worst thing that can happen to you while playing

That really causes losses; the sites ought to have a system to identify it and allow a longer grace period for getting back online.

Good morning, everyone.

This has happened to me before, but since I play micro stakes, it doesn't affect me that much. Internet disconnections are very rare for me because my connection is usually stable. Right now, I'm using my phone as a hotspot for my PC.

For players who play higher stakes, though, I think it's a good idea to have more than one internet provider—at least two, or even three if you want extra security. It must be terrible to lose your connection while playing a final table for big money.

I don't know how much internet costs in other countries, but here in Brazil I pay about R$100 per month for a 600 Mbps connection, which is roughly US$20. So, if I ever start playing higher stakes, I would definitely have at least two internet connections.

Definitely a good idea. I recently got broadband installed, which should be faster than my old wireless internet. But I still kept my wireless internet as a backup solution, and today there is actually a lengthy issue (hours) with the broadband. Which would have completely sucked, if I was playing tournaments and did not have a back-up.

I know exactly how that feels. It's one of the most frustrating things in poker. Losing a big pot or busting on the bubble because of an internet disconnection hurts much more than losing a normal hand. Unfortunately, the only things we can do are use a stable connection, keep mobile data as a backup, and hope the platform has reconnect protection.
