Online poker is not beatable!?

i like more live poker. I play online poker long time, but mostly all ins when i have to win after flop winning other guys with last card, thats sucks.

Its definitely not unbeatable. It is tough, there may be bots, etc.. But I have had cashouts, and am playing everyday on their money. I play for fun, and mostly small stakes/freerolls, but I do get the odd chance at some good payouts. Highly recommended is making a small deposit to get whatever your preferred sites 'welcome/deposit bonus' and take advantage of the tickets and promos/clubs!

Any game is beatable. Any game. If you study and learn from the best, it can be beat. That’s my argument to people that say it’s rigged for those who go all in bad. If it works, then start doing it and you will win. It doesn’t work though. That’s just an excuse for holes in their game or just a bad run. But math is math. If you get it in with positive equity more often than not, you will win in the long run.

For sure nowadays online poker it's a bit hard, but for sure not unbeatable. In my opinion this is the effect of some poker sites letting the players to use tons of helpful tools. I can't say nothing about live poker because i don't play.

I agree with Vanessa, she has clearly mentioned that its very tough to beat online poker. Look at gus Hansen, hes down over 20 million dollars online, and hes made profits live.

Gus just needs to switch it up online. Using 1 person as an example is not enough to make the case. What about all the people who are up online? Is that just dumb luck? Or does it have to do with how they play? I’m not saying it’s easy. Just saying it can still be done. It’s definitely harder than it used to be. But that’s what they said when everyone started playing aggressive like Stu Ungar back in the day. It’s an evolving game and those who don’t adapt will get left behind talking about the good ole days.

When I win online and the card goes, I feel good. But still a live game with online can not be compared, it is much better to play at a real table. It would be different if live dealers dealt cards online.

Why try to beat it at all? work with it... duck and dive when the bullets are screaming over your head... its just as much may be more that you should fold than go all in... keep dodging those bullets

I'm 49 years old and have been playing poker since I was in Jr high school. The amount of bad beats I see online is extremely hard to believe.

Playing live I have a pretty good winrate at 1/2 and 1/3 - however online playing the micros, I have lost $300 over the last 3 years - I am a slight loser online. When I evaluate why, I can easily see it is because of losing coolers. I don'tget beat by 2 pair when I have a pair, or get beat by 3 of a kind when I have 2 pair...

No, I get beat when I have a full house and the villain also has a full house but just a higher one. Or I get beat with a set by a higher set, or I get beat with a straight by a higher straight, or I get beat with a flush by a higher flush.

It happens waaaay to often online compared to live, and no not because I see more hands online - I'm talking percentages here.

Simply put, online poker in the states in an unregulated industry that cannot be trusted.

Thankfully I have a casino within an hour's drive!

Ok. Let’s say that everything you said is true. Then it’s simple; every time you’re behind, put your chips in the middle, then you will suck out and win. See, it’s still a game. If the rules change, then change how you play. The issue is, is no one really believes enough that it’s rigged to put their money where their mouth is. Instead we will just continue to hear about it in forums like these and nothing will change.
I’m not saying you’re wrong and I’m right. I’m saying I play based on what I believe and I have made thousands of dollars online. You should play based on what you think the winning strategy is. And then look at your results. If online poker is different than live, then adjust the way you play online accordingly.

Maybe rigged was the wrong word. If I understood you correctly, you were saying that online poker is different than live. I was simply saying that if it is, you can learn the differences and adjust your play to beat it. I haven’t played nearly as long as you. But the time I did play, I experienced some success. If it doesn’t show you the profit, it was over 31k from just tournaments. None of those stats show my cash game profits. I started building a roll originally with cash games.

There is a part of me that agrees, even to the point where I will not play anything higher then the micros online, and pulled all but 50-100 on each site I play on. Then focused on live....

Over the last 6 months since I did this I can say I've boosted my bankroll 3x % then what I was about to online....

With that said, we should still play online, cause it gives us content to study.

I think she’s just a little tired. No one leaves poker forever. But there are periods of apathy when the game does not seem like such a good thing. But this happens not only with poker players, I think. This is also possible with athletes and other people. Sooner or later, the focus in life changes. And if poker is really your business, you will come back to it more than once.

I still play on ACR. I just refuse to put any kind of significant amount of money online. Not until they officially legalize it, will I go back to playing like I used to. We can agree to disagree about the state of online poker. That’s the beauty of the internet. We can have our own thoughts and opinions. Good luck with what you do.

Judging from the hands, you see on Youtube, Vanessa is clearly playing an extremely unbalanced style. There are hands, where she get J7 all in preflop for 400 blinds. And maybe you can get away with this in soft live tournaments, where many amateurs have saved up and traveled to play their dream tournament, so they just want to survive and will "give it to her this time", even though they might know, she is probably bluffing.

But of course this does not work online, where people can just reload or buy into another tournament, and where players are also using HUDs, which will quickly expose a maniac like Vanessa. And with Gus Hansen its honestly a bit of the same story. Plus he was reportedly constantly playing against the 10 best players in the world. And as everyone with a bit of common sense know, the only way to win in poker is to play against someone, who is worse than yourself

That is pretty smart, if you live in the US outside the states, where online gambling has become legal. At any point of time US authorities could start going after other offshore poker sites, like they did with PokerStars, Full Tilt and Ultimate Poker in 2011. And then your funds might suddenly be frozen, and you are hoping for a solution, like what was found with Full Tilt.

Luckily we dont have this problem here in Europe, since most of the major poker sites have a license here. The main challenge is, that some countries require people to play on fences in sites, but at least its better than not being allowed to play at all.

Ya. I watched a friend get over 400k froze for months. He lived off that money, so he didn’t even have money to move right away. I have a large family and I just refuse to put ourselves at the mercy of our greedy government. I’m sure it will get fixed, but I don’t know if it will ever be as good as it was. Those were the golden years.

Online poker is no longer profitable for a long time and the pros have already faced it and many don't even play online anymore. The game got really hard and not to mention the extra game tools you use today.
