Play money. You play poker on play money?

I had a good long break from online poker so when I resurrected my pokerstars account I hopped onto the play money games to warm up a bit.
It was as mental as I remember to be fair, absolute chip-fest and just flips for stacks at the lower levels.
I threw $20 real money in, played 2c/5c and the difference was literally night and day - still some silly plays silier players and idiotic hands "getting there", but generally speaking there was some respect for the money in play.

Play money is, to me, just a bit of mindless fun. See who can accumulate the most obscene stack through the most outrageous plays. It's a laugh but I would never advocate using play money games to prepare for the real tables.

When I was first learning how to play poker I only played for play money because I was trying to learn the strategies of the game. Now that I know how to play, still learning of course, I tend to only play for real money because when you play for play money people tend to play outside of the normal boundaries of the game.

it’s not interesting to play for game money, there is no such excitement and adrenaline, it’s better to play for real money

though in a good company you can play with play money

Used to play for play money but it is certainly not the same game, not when you get idiots that just go All-in on the first hand for the hell of it.
Even playing Micro stakes some people will play any 2 cards simply because they can afford it.
It is the same as playing Tournament Poker and Cash games both could be No limit hold-em, but both games are totally different in your approach to them, In a Tournament your on the line every hand because ever hand could see you going out of the game, whereas in cash games if you bust out you simply buy back in so I certainly see more flops in a cash game.

I think play money poker is stake-free that’s why players don’t take it that seriously either.
Poker is a game where you need something to bet, a prize, a chocolate or something to be enjoyable.

I think play money is only useful to learn the rules and how works the game after that is waste of time poker is a game about money you must have something to risk and something to win I don't see how play money could work people playing serious

I used to play play money at Zynga Poker on Facebook,then started to play for real money.Also,there are many freerolls where you can earn some money,so there is no point in playing play money.

The play money play at replay, zynga and global poker are just too unrealistic. Apart from the loose passive players who don't know any strategy you get a lot of people that just want to shove because they think its fun to see what happens, knowing that when they run out of chips they just get more free ones.

I kind agree with you.
Take me by example, I just restarted play poker, and only do for hobby. As long I dont think I do not have the skills to play for real money, I can have fun playing play money.
But I know its very different. Everybody is just crazy with play money.

When i am trying to learn a new game, eg Razz or something like that. I use the play money on PS before i start with real money.

Play money is good for training. You can always recover, lose a couple of times for real money and start playing carefully right away.

Even playing solitaire on pc is much better playing with play money. Poker is funny when players take it seriously.
