Sometimes I wonder whether stopping after a few losses is actually helpful or whether I'm just letting a bad session affect my decisions. Do you have a fixed stop-loss, or do you decide based on how you're playing?

I think it's more of a psychological thing than how many buy-ins you lose. I would have a stop loss, and if I feel that I got tilted, I'm just going to stop even if I haven't reached my limit. One bad session is bad enough, but I will not tilt on the next one. ♠️😅

It’s useful to know how much you’re willing to lose and how much time you want to spend playing poker. If you stick to those limits consistently, your emotions will become less intense over time.

If you feel like your poker game will be affected, or more importantly you are not enjoying it that day, then yes stop, if you feel like you still want to play and your head is in the right place, carry on.

I don't believe in arbitary numbers like, stop if you lose 2 buy in etc etc

When things a lil too hard, it's better to step back a bit and take a breather

I stop, if I am no longer enjoying to play. Even though I make some money from poker, its not my main source of income. So no need to treat it like a job, where I have to play x amount of hours or y amount of tournaments.

You need to stop playing when you're stressed or tired for reasons outside of Poker, because playing in either of those states will result in losing money.

I think having a clear limit is important, but knowing when to stop also depends on your mindset. If I'm frustrated or start making bad decisions, I'd rather take a break than keep playing and chase my losses. Protecting your bankroll and staying focused are more important than winning back money in one session. 🃏

Even when I’m playing at my best, I still take a break about every hour.
If I feel tired or the game isn’t going well, I prefer to stop.

I really think that when you’re just making deposit after deposit, you need to stop—it’s better to spend the money on something else.

I’ve learned that some days, it’s impossible to win, even when you’re playing well. It’s just not your day. And usually, you can tell pretty early on, so I just stop playing for the day.

I highly recommend a fixed stop-loss (like 2-3 buy-ins). Poker players are notorious for lying to themselves about being on tilt. Once you hit that limit, just log off. The games will always be there tomorrow.
