According to Finnish poker news site Nettipokeri a poker hobbyist Giedré Valgemäe turned a 15 dollar satellite ticket into a handsome amount in GG Masters 1 000 000 GTD, last Monday.

Valgemäe lives in Estonia and is a working mother of two. She has had some small winnings in the past but nothing compared to this.

After winning the ticket only after two hands she started the tournament with 50 blinds and played tight basic poker. She claims to have been slightly under the influence of alcohol but yet managed to grow her stack into 250 blinds during the first hour of her play.

All she wanted was to make ITM and go to bed because she had to work the next day.

But things kept evolving and Valgemäe felt nervous going into day 2 of the tournament.

- I was really nervous because I didn't believe in myself.

Yet, chips continued to flow her way. When heads-up came she started to believe that she can actually win it.

The fun part? She had only 21 Euros (about 25 dollars) on her poker account when she bought the ticket.

It's great to hear these stories and shows that anyone can have a huge score.

amazing to hear stories like that still happen.

hope they withdraw and enjoy most and dont dust it off in higher stakes.

Not exactly Chris the Moneymaker story, but great nonetheless. If RNG loves you for a longer stretch of time you bank hehe. Not to take away from her skills of course.

It's nothing. With two kids, drunk. The next morning and work...

That’s unreal haha I always dream of this being me and I’ve got a few nice cashes in free tickets but nothing like that haha I gotta move to Finland

What an incredible story, I would like to replicate those moments I experienced playing poker at the highest level.

This is why we play poker...there is no other competition where one can compete on even ground with poker pros and more experienced amateurs. At 5'2", and 72 years old, having had a triple bypass, I could never compete with Tiger Woods at golf (when he's not rolling cars over), can't beat Roger Federer in tennis, can't skate as fast as Connor McDavid, hit home runs like Shohei Otani...but at poker, because there is some element of luck in addition to skill, I can and have outlasted poker pros in the 2019 wsop Colossus...and cashed.

In Brazil it would be 15%, but it varies from country to country, and in Estonia I think there's a great incentive for gaming, so the tax might be lower!

Worked with a guy who turned $50 into $66,000 playing pontoon online over night. He kept the money and has never gambled since.
