A British poker player, Kalem Lodge, has been sent to prison for five years after biting off a piece of an opponent’s ear. The incident took place back on September 6, 2018, in Hartlepool England but was only heard in court last week.

Have you witnessed any poker related incidents as bad as this?

There is no excuse for this type of behavior. Even if the victim consented to a fight, he did not consent to his ear being bitten off. Accused was probably waiting for an opportunity to do that. Hopefully the victim can get some compensation in civil court as well using the criminal judgment as proof of facts.

This out-of-control player must have been inspired by Mike Tyson, unfortunately in an extremely negative attitude, now he will have 5 years to reflect on his lack of control .... and the lesson is for us all in poker and life control and calmness. fundamental

Seen all kinds of terrible behavior in poker rooms, but never someone biting a chunk out of another players ear... that's just wild.

The thing which frosts people in these types of cases, is that this individual was a known violent thug who had a record and had previously attacked someone with a machete.

Which begs the question how was someone this violent and unstable still walking around confronting people, the public, at will?

An unfortunate behavior of this person who already has a violent record and I hope he can change his life, but there is something that intrigues me and I think that the judge and defense lawyer acted wrongly, personal problems? not the subject is insane who shouts in the middle of a fight "I'm Chucky!" I mean how high or mentally altered you should be to shout "I'm Chucky!" in a fight, the thing of having bitten the ear is reprehensible and it was very bad but shout "I'm Chucky!" what the hell is that ?.
If I had been the judge I would have given him 5 years in a mental institution and then when he is mentally healthy then he spent 5 years in prison

The first time I hear such a horror story in poker😆 If you look closely at the photo of the bully, you see a piece of the victim’s ear stuck in his lips😔 or is it a visual illusion? 😚

He will now have enough time to learn to control himself))) But the world poker federation must punish such players separately (disqualification) !!!

I was the only one live poker tournament, there was not hurt each other about the people, but the more words. Next to me sat a big player who's words, physical endowments sparked anxiety in me, even a two-társamból well. For me, it was over quickly in the event.

Lol that gif is pure gold.

I think this guy is a bit sick in his brain and its good for brittish society he has to go to jail. Also that he yelled "i am chucky!":D wtf is that? Pretty weird to say something like that no? Especially after going full mike tyson. They should put him in a mental hospital after his time in prison, he definitely needs some kind of help.

Anger management is a real thing LOL but seriously that is such a horrible experience for the victim of this crazy guy...:( I've seen one or two fights start to break out in a poker room but the poker room director usually nip that in the bud and usually the person that's trying to fight gets kicked out immediately.....

Had a small piece of my ear removed due to skin cancer. Not fun, and people look at you , like, what happened to your ear?
I feel bad for the guy. Maybe he can afford plastic surgery

But...how?

How do you let someone who you're fighting with get close enough to bite your ear? Who wrestles in real life fights?

Oh boy. I thought this was a joke-post at first.

I think the worst offense I knew of before this... was some angry guy dumping scalding hot-coffee onto another player, causing 3'rd degree burns.

I was playing at the weekly Friday Night $30K at the Gardens Casino two weeks ago. This particular Friday was special with the Guarantee increased to $50K, they do this every couple of months. The normal tournament runs with mid 300 players and the special brings in over 400. This time we hit 485 players bringing the prize pool to OVER $110K.
Anyways 3+ hours into the tournament the table across from ours started grumbling that continued to escalate, I looked over and saw 1 player kicking another as they both were yelling at each other. Floor people came over and quickly took control. Both men were taken aside and later both were removed from the tournament... Both players were grown men 50+... You never know do you.

My opinion

At least me being disciplined on cardschat didn't go that far. Maybe our little arguments cause the pros to do foolish things. I am unsure if I was the one that got the ear bit or the one doing the biting. I raise the roof with chat cause I think poker is a pastime you do with a bottle of beer after the 20 hours labor work is done for the week. Women shouldn't have to do the labor work but someone has to do it. Leaving the men. "Social Security starts getting cut off after 20 hours of work."
