Anyone see the 60 minutes on online poker cheating?

Hey, so a while ago I saw a 60 minutes on online poker cheating. And it showed how there are programs where someone can see the other players cards at the tables. Has anyone else seen this? and does anyone know if ther has been anything done about it?

This kind of shit is why they need to legalize online gambling. Its a joke how they just decide whats best for us. ****ing clowns man. I dont need some liar politician telling me whats ok for me to hear or see or do. that's another story all together tho lol.

I believe that a site like pokerstars or 888poker would be aware if a software like this would exist.

I know there has been superusers (can see cards) in the past. I'm not sure if there are people currently doing it though. I'm sure the security staff would catch on if someone is winning way more than a standard win rate.

The only software that can do this has to be installed on your computer and is not site software specific. Pokerstars can not stop this if you are playing against someone who can see your screen through the software installed. This little trick has been used against some of the best, Doug Polk to name one.

Such programs are instantly blocked and poker-room blocks of the player.

Attackers disguise Win32/Spy.Odlanor under the installers of legitimate software utility, such as Daemon Tools or Torrent. Odlanor can be disguised and under specialized poker software such as Tournament Shark, Poker Calculator Pro, Smart Buddy, Poker Office.

That's why I lost my bankroll I think. Should I quit online poker and go live poker? In Mongolia poker rooms' dealers are extremely talented and can shuffle cards at their will. which is why I choose online poker. so now both of them are dangerous to play?

That 60 minutes story has aired at least twice . It is one reason I don't play any table bigger than about $25 buyin now . Online poker is now know as 'poker on steroids' and there are many ways to cheat , team up , or use unauthorized software . I would wager more scandals will continue to surface .

I believe the show OP means is from 2008..... And was a very special situation, and in no way reflects the normal online poker play.

I did not see it but I think we all have to realize the following:

If there's a dime to be made, rest assured, there will always be someone playing an angle to try and cheat. It's human nature. Legalized poker or not.... Even if it's legalized you don't think there can be teams online to cheat? Of course there can.

So, you play and watch...just like a home game...and if you think you're being cheated, move on.

I've never heard of anything like that, but i would hope the sites that i play have some sort of protection mechanism in place to protect players. I'm confident that this is not happening, but you can never be sure these days.

OP is referring to the super user scandal at UB/AP. 60 minutes did a special with some of the people who knew the most about it, Nat Aram, Todd Whiteles, and a few others. Should be on youtube for those who have never seen it.

PS - AP/UB haven't been around since 2011 so . . .
