Governor Janet Mills has not signed or vetoed the newest bill to legalize online gambling and online poker, but has 'allowed' a bill to exist. She does have concerns, but feels that Maine's Gambling Control Unit will develop responsible rules and standards to ensure the Wabanaki Nations will be accountable.

Maine residents could be playing online as early as late 2026 or the beginning of 2027. As news contributor Bob Pajich states, the state will likely need to join the MSIGA (Multi-State Internet Gaming Agreement) to really allow poker players to benefit.

Would be awesome to have Americans in the global playerpool again.
Thinking of FullTilt times.

Thats great, I wish we just had a federal solution. Then every state wouldnt have to reinvent the wheel.

I believe it's important to separate Poker and sports betting from 'gambling'.
This brings a negative connotation to Poker. A more appropriate nomenclature should be created. Perhaps, if it belonged to another 'group', Poker would already be legalized.

The fact is that Poker cannot be put in the same box as gambling.

The most correct post on this topic! They should think about this to get poker out of gambling! Poker has nothing to look for on sites that have a lot of gambling! Poker just like chess must reach the ears of those who decide his fate and remove him from this category! Poker is not a game of chance compared to all the others where luck comes first! It's a small percentage of luck in poker too but not enough to say it's gambling!

What a bizarre thing to call it. lol

For reference, they often have many different types of name but that just sounds off.

Units make me think of military not bureaucrats.

Maine? Is that in Canada?

Poker is definitely gambling lmao. Don't let the math fool you. That's just the edge you get for being good. That's the same thing as saying blackjack isn't gambling if everyone learned how to card count.

Good question! Let's see what I can find. :)

Edit:
A quick search tells me that there are no online poker rooms running as of yet.

That's great news! I hope this new feature reaches other states. Here in Brazil, legalization was a complete disaster and hurt the big poker rooms we're used to playing on, like Party Poker, 888poker, PS, and others... we can only access poker games now.
