Economy,people not wanting to go to the states because they can't stand Trump .if they didn't host the world cup the number of people visiting the states is way down but those fans will go to the farthest reaches of hell to follow their team

I think it's probably a mix of factors. Travel costs are higher, the $10k buy-in is a lot for many players, and there are more big tournament series around the world now. Even so, the Main Event is still one of the most prestigious tournaments in poker.

One thing i noticed when at the WSOP this year was how much less foreign visitors there was . I honestly think that has a lot to do with it. Higher prices and travel cost and the boycotting of the US is also a big issue.
