Someone on reddit asked Chidwick what his actual profit was (his winnings were 76M at the time) and he answered:

"I donโ€™t have exact numbers from the earlier part of my career but somewhere in the 5-10m range"

Very grateful he was actually open to answering that kind of question. Really goes to show that even the biggest winners are only just squeezing a bit out and explains why so many big winners are still constantly broke.

Great dude, highly recommended his interview with Alderman:

HendonMob doesn't show the money invested after all...
Yes the top 10 are all millionaires but I get the impression many people see tournament winnings as pure profit which is far from reality

Adrian Mateos because he gets super prizes online and live too

Those numbers mean absolutely anything. It's money they made for their investors. Professional poker works pretty much like horse racing. Some investors decide to put a professional poker player in an 100 k tournament, for instance. The player himself has a very small percentage of the buy in. Those numbers are not available anywhere online. So when they win a tournament for, say 10 millions, most of that money goes out to investors depending on the percentage they invested in the player.

Except for someone like Daniel Negreanu who probably has his buy-in paid for by the site he's currently affiliated with. He has been freerolling for the last 20 years.

Anyone can get sponsored by GG though, you don't need to be an ambassador.
If you start streaming, you get every buy in paid as long as you have regular viewership over time.

Daniel also lost 2.2 million live in 2023, which is amazing when you think of how much he is up.

What surprised me was that there aren't any Brazilians yet,but that'll change soon.

You can obv not compare that kind of sponsorship with the deal negreanu got. He is not only an ambassador, he is the main ambassador. Basically their mascot. The argument that everyone can get sponsorship from GG by streaming is not really relevant as no streamer will ever get to that level of sponsorship and paid buy-ins. Before he was freerolling with Pokerstars acting as a spokesperson of the community untill he showed his true colors when they ended sne.

Imo he perfectly fits GG with his "More rake is better" approach. GG couldn't find someone better. He basically lives their philosophy ๐Ÿ˜…

That list is cashes not earnings, so Its mostly a list of, who have played the most highrollers. In theory its possible, some of those 10 have actually lost money. As others have said, it also does not take staking into account. Or travel costs to play these tournaments all around the world.

Been watching Bryn kenney and I love his poker philosophy, guy doesn't even do GTO but with all these big figure's we also need to factor buy ins

If you qualify and maintain 40 viewers, you can be eligible for 100% 'rakeback'... not 100% of your buy-ins. If it was 100% buyins, I don't think we'd see anyone streaming on any of the other sites ever.

I highly doubt any of those 10 are net losers.

It surprises me that Anotonio Esfandiari is no longer on this list. At one time he was #1

None of the rest surprise me... they're all crushers! Many of them were also online crushers pre 2010 (ie. Jason Koon > 'NovaSky', Brynn Kenney 'OneUponaStar', Stephen Chidwick >> 'stevie444', Bonomo was 'ZeeJustin', Ike Haxton >>> 'luvtheWNBA' / 'philivey2694', Adrian Mateos 'amadi_17'). All of these guys were killing it online & some still are... especially during the larger series (Mateos didn't start til' after and I'm not sure if he played FTP but he's definitely an online crusher!)

His win in the One Drop boosted him to the top. Outside that he hasn't made much.

To me is amazing that Adrian Mateos had made to the fifth place already, I mean , he is a beast, but he is relatively young.
I hope Papo could get on that top 10, although I don't think it'll happen too soon.

Some incredible names on this list! Itโ€™s crazy to see how much these players have earned over their careers. Phil Ivey will always be one of my favorites, though. โ™ ๏ธ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Which is insane given he probably has won a bunch in private games also. Sucks that so many of the greatest players are that heavily backed.

Suprised by Mikita Bodyakovsky being so high on the list didnt know his earnings was that high.

I wanna see Martin Kabrel break into the top 10 list he's in 34th postion atm.

All the results buy ins and profit to lose was released for Triton recently and you would be surprised to actually see not many players are profitable and most of the big names are actually losing players at there events.

Top poker players have won tens of millions of dollars thanks to exceptional skill, years of experience, discipline, and participation in very high-stakes tournaments; thus, their success is the result of an individual professional career.

I started to play poker due to Negreanu made it look so much fun and Tom Dwan bluffs with braindead look.
