This is so weird and the only more or less logical conclusion basically is that "support" there is "trained" to react instantly if someone mentions the word deposits together with any personal condition.
Maybe the chat support is not even a human but AI? This is becoming more and more common and would explain the events. I think, most of us can probably agree, that its best to interact as little as possible with poker site support. In this case if OP forgot to enter a deposit bonus code, and his deposit was only $20, then with hindsight it would have been a lot better to just forget this bonus. Especially since the bonus terms on 888 Poker essentially say, that a bonus can not be used, unless you have already spend all the regular funds in your account.

OP did you try contacting the 888 rep here to try and get your $20 back?

Cant imagine a more credible source than someone who told what someone wrote in the comment box of a random romanian stream 😅

The issue happened in a split second. I was in a support chat trying to claim a 100% deposit bonus that I had forgotten to enter the code for. My exact, literal comment was a self-deprecating joke:
It's a shame you weren't aware that 'bonus' at 888 is pretty much a scam.

To realize that this all started from the hopes of getting something that basically doesn't exist (bonus).

I hope you're able to get your $20 a.s.a.p. It'd be nice if 888 gave you a $22 tournament ticket at the very minimum. Honestly though, I'd take that $20 & run! Of the popular sites today, it is the ONLY one that I've heard gives their customers the runaround on Withdrawals.

ID is a long number (9 digits ) & is much different than my username (or my screen name)
Unless it's referred to as 'user ID'

I'm also Brazilian, I live in Brasilia, I've had an account at 888 Poker since 2015, when I started playing poker, I've made thousands of deposits and withdrawals at 888 Poker without any problems, of course my account is verified, Brazilian laws have greatly limited access to poker sites, casinos and bets, I was sad this week that 888 Poker reduced the number of freerolls

This is about principle.
Have you read the terms and conditions and checked whether it's possible to resolve everything online without having to go to the company's headquarters in Gibraltar?

That's a really bizzare incident, never heard of something like that. I guess some operators are so afraid of lawsuits for "taking advantage" of people (kinda ironic, yeah) with serious problems, that they train support staff for such things. Thanks for sharing your experience, we all know now what kind of jokes not to make.

It's getting worse every year. I remember winning a good amount, but they asked me to verify it twice, and I ended up withdrawing it after three weeks...

It depends on the amount. If it's 500 or more, of course, sue; if it's less, forget about it.Their support is certainly far from ideal.I don't think you should play on this room if you can't use your winnings.

Good afternoon everyone. This is very common on betting sites: when a player reports any kind of problem, they are practically banned. Most of the time, the site closes the account or freezes it, allowing only the withdrawal of funds. In your case, you are reporting that the site withheld your funds. I have never seen a site do that. Generally, when someone reports a problem with gambling, if the account is verified and everything is in order, the site will not withhold the funds. They may freeze the account and allow withdrawals if everything is OK.

I had a similar case. I started playing poker at the end of 2018, and I have always been profitable in poker. Then I started playing casino games, basically roulette. Over time, I realized that roulette is a game where you can win in the short term, but in the long run you will always lose. So what did I do? To avoid risk and the temptation to play casino games, I contacted all the poker sites where I play and asked them to block the sportsbook and casino features.

At Bet365, they asked why I wanted to block the casino. I said it was because I was losing a lot of money in the casino. As a result, they closed my poker account along with the casino account and refused to reopen it. So you cannot say that you have a gambling problem; you should simply say that you want to close the account. Never explain that the reason is addiction or any health-related issue, because then they will ban the account.

Most likely because it was only $20, which might be less than the smallest withdrawal allowed in OPs location.
