ACR Vs. Bovada

Which Would You Recommend And Why?

Why not both?

I have played at both and no issues with either, liked them both alright granted the anonymous thing at bovada is certainly diff than what I'm used to but still didn't mind it all that much and one of these days plan on making a deposit and grinding out the first depo bonus, but in the meantime will keep grinding elsewhere to make the money for that deposit (when i don't wind up having to cash it out for other life expenses which can happen at times).

GL with whichever you choose, but will just add that for many the anonymous does turn them off although bovada has more traffic and is uber soft.

Bovada because I play at ACR and will take all of your money.

As the donkey above me posted why not both? If your bankroll is on the smaller side I would recommend ACR as Cardschat holds two weekly freerolls there for members in the FreeRollClub. (ACR,BCP)

I haven't played at Bovada in a long time so I don't know anything about there VIP/Rakeback promos so I can't tell you which is better in that department. Though I would assume it would be ACR.

Also ACR allows player to player transfers.

a lot of people whine about bovada having anon tables and the possibility of collusion at sit and gos-but that's possible everywhere . but you can't be colluded against HU or at zone or big tourneys.
also-losers who can't win without HUDs whine about bovada,they also have a for table max and no rakeback.

they have fastest cash out.
acr has a ton of freerolls and bitcoin and player to player transfer.

Bovada has the superior software and the superior hand history accessibility. The hand replayer's functionality is great, and you can view opponents' hole cards, when they go to showdown. Also, since Bovada is anonymous, players are allowed, after an allotted number of days, to see every opponents' hole cards in the hand history files. This feature is invaluable when reviewing hand histories and evaluating what strategies were effective. And, though many people may not be looking for it, Bovada is the only site that has consistent Fixed Limit Hold'em action.

Sites on the Winning Poker Network (ACR, BCP, etc.) also have a near-constant availability of their "On-Demand" freerolls. As soon as one starts, there is late registration for thirty minutes, and then the next one starts registering. Another benefit to players with a smaller bankroll is that WPN offers smaller stakes than Bovada, both in cash and MTT offerings, though they both offer SNGs that start at around the same buy-in.

It is WPN. They offer actual rakeback, if players sign up through an affiliate. Bovada has a points system that allows players to convert points into tournament buy-ins, but not actual cash. For me, this makes no difference, because both points and rakeback simply allow me to play more poker. Because of that, I use Bovada to focus on tournaments, and I use WPN to focus on cash games. That being said, WPN offers both rakeback as well as a points system, though I am not familiar with how their points system works. They seem to have numerous promotions going on at once. Full descriptions of ACR promotions can be found here, and I am actually going to be looking through that page, myself.

ACR vs Bovada ... my opinion after 3 days

First post !!! (woo-hoo!!)

Just wanted to let you guys (and ladies) know that after playing Bovada for a while, im completely done with them, and switching to ACR for good. Ive only known about ACR for about a week now, and i must say, its MUCH more realistic that Bovada.

On Bovada, i run into set over set at least 6 times a day. Lose to runner runner witht the goods time after time again. People shoving with absolute garbage to beat my aces, kings, etc. I understand variance, but this is just stupid.

Only been playing ACR for a few days, but i havent seen any bad beats at all. Its almost strange how completely different the poker software is. Its like playing in a casino, and the cards really feel like theyre falling from a Random Number Generator. I was hesitant at first, but im very glad i made the switch.

BTW - im not in any way affiliated with Americas Card Room. Im just some guy from Los Angeles who plays poker.

Good luck at ACR. I spend my time there as well.

One piece of advice. If you are going to pack up and change sites every time variance is against you, you will run out of sites available to US players rather quickly.

Bovada is garbage.

Tournaments seem popular on ACR, but they have excessive late registration and re-entry periods in my opionion. I hate Bovada with a passion, but they do have better tournament selection and structure. ACR is way better for cash games. Anonymity and table jumping aren't for me.

There are positives and negatives to both sites in my opinion. It really depends on what you are looking for in a site and what would work best for you. I agree with the advice or suggestion of using both to determine what you like the best. If you have money to deposit, I would suggest splitting it up and depositing on both sites to decide for yourself which site fits you the best. Both of these networks are the absolute best option for any US player.

Hi, I too am having trouble with Bovada. I played 8 months. But I am trying ACR, and I actually cashed in PLO freeroll last night. Ive only been playing 2 days there, but I got two Royals, and another person got one, in the SAME game. Is this usual for PLO? I was happy tho. Like a new toy. Im sure having a hard time navigating this site, but I look forward to making some friends here. I follow CC on FB, and always enjoy their witty responses

I really think this is the absolute most ridiculous thing i've read all day.

ACR is one of the WORST sites for cash games. Its completely reg infested with bum hunters and NITs. Rocks playing with Rocks. Games are BORING and slow.

Some people don't like anon tables, but guess what? There is WAY more action because of it.

People who aren't rolled or like to take shots do that on Bovada. If you short stack on ACR youll get the sharks who come to bum hunt you.

ACR has its pluses as well. Fast cashouts (like Bovada) and Bitcoin. Love having Bitcoin as an option, really wish other sites would implement it.

Tourneys are decent on ACR, super late REG which is both good and bad. Syncd breaks is also AWESOME.

But Cash games on Bovada or ACR..... Bovada >>>>>>>>> And its not even close.

Bovada isn't rigged in anyway. You will get the same amount of sets over sets and bad beats at ACR that you would at Bovada in the long run.
The reason it seems like you experience more of this at Bovada is probably because you've played there longer. After all you did mention you just switched to ACR.

I would bet that you could find someone making the exact opposite claim that they receive more bad beats at ACR than Bovada. Lol.

Give it time.

Bovada require administrator permissions?

Does Bovada still require the software to run with Administrator permissions? I tested their software a few years ago but rejected it for two reasons:
1. the anonymous player names was annoying. It's nice to sit down at a table and recognize players and chat with them and know how they play. (I doubt the anonymous player names reduces much cheating because people can still create multi-accounts and use VPN/remote access to cheat plus it does nothing to reduce collusion.)
2. at the time, their software required Administrator permission to run. I work in software security so I'm a little more sensitive to security issues but I'm not going to run a program from an overseas company that has administrator permissions on my computer. That gives the program complete control of my computer and it can do anything it wants, either accidentally or intentionally. (You might not know if the software requires admin credentials because you normally log on your computer as an administrator. That's not a good idea and explaining why is off topic; we can discuss it in another forum if you want.)

I have played ACR and Bovada. I like ACR more they more free rolls then Bovada gives you free money now and then to use. but never when get good hands to win or win any tourneys to build up my cash roll.

It really depends on what you like? I like to play on Bovada because I seem to run better on there & I like the graphics more. I also like the option they allow of a "rabbit card". I have cashed out 5+ times on Bovada & every single time I have received my check within 7 business days. I think Bovada is great paying their customers.

I like ACR because they have 27% rakeback.

I like ACR because they have more freerolls vs Bovada who has(to my knowledge) only 1 freeroll which is the $5,000 PTS Freeroll Qualifier. Whether it is true or not I tend to believe that the quality of a site is tied in with the amount/frequency of freerolls. The more freerolls they offer the better the site is I feel.

Thanks for letting me know. I guess it was kind of a hijack. Was just looking for someplace to vent my frustrations with the ACR "not so" random number generator.

Yes they have a decent amount of MTTs from 50c-20 dollars. The late registration period takes forever to close in most and the tourneys last 4-7 hours. Like most Mtts the value is in finishing high 1-3. Be prepared to call a full 5k or 10k buy in to show down a hand close to the bubble. Freeze up on the bubble and get your min cash cause they will screw you if you don't 90% of the time.

It's possible to use HUDs on bovada. All you have to do is to use bovada card catcher. It allows to use PT or HM on bovada.

The series of tracking software produced by HoldemIndicator are also compatible with Bovada.
