Hello!

Yesterday, I tried to participate in the $100 freeroll on Party Poker, but I couldn't (I received a message saying I wasn't a "real money player").

I searched online and some places said I needed to make a deposit first, others said it wasn't necessary.

So, is a deposit necessary?

Thank you!

You'll probably need to go through KYC first. And a small deposit wouldn't hurt.

I've been through this before and needed to make a deposit at PartyPoker to play.

Based on that message you received I'd say yes. Make minimum deposit, you can still start from freerolls. Honestly does it really matter that much if you have $10 idling on your PartyPoker account, it's trusted site.

There is no need to deposit to play, but if you need to withdraw, you must have made at least one deposit. So I suggest making a small deposit first, so you can create the tournament.

This is incorrect, there are some freerolls that can only be accessed by depositors. This is standard for many cardrooms.

Isso está incorreto. Existem alguns torneios freeroll que só podem ser acessados por quem deposita. Isso é padrão em muitas salas de poker.
So your Party Poker is different from mine, because freerolls on my App, there's no need for a deposit, maybe it's a specific tournament. The only requirement is to have made a deposit to withdraw.

I was always under the impression that to be able to play in FREEROLLS on Partypoker, you need to deposit. (ie. to get into the Cardschat freerolls you do).
It is worth it to deposit for a few reasons. Partypoker has soft cash games at 2nl (1c/2c) where I'm sure a player could build a small bankroll with very limited risk (If you know how to play cash games that is).
Partypoker has a fair number of lower entrant numbers playing in their low buy-in Tournaments. (less variance while playing smaller MTTs)
Cardschat games, 2 good ones twice per week (low number of entrants, better play than the other Cardschat games, bigger prizes due to only Top 7 getting paid) & there's a few other 'cash-added' micros and freer ones worth playing too (ie. Staples games, $5 buyin, $200 -to-$500 added!, & a weekly depositor freeroll (not sure if they still have this?), and a weekly bankroll builder Freeroll (On Mondays).

The other good reason you should be depositing (before even playing any games on the site... or pretty much any site for that matter), you'll need to in order to get money off the site (Withdrawal money). Partypoker has always been extremely easy to get money off their site. It's a trustworthy site with a great reputation and has been around for eons.
I don't play MTT's on Partypoker (but I am planning to in near future) but I do play cash games fairly often (at least a few times each week) & I do quite well on there.

Deposit > Play/Win > Withdrawal... but only a % of bankroll. I think it's best to leave lots on the site to try to build it up so you can continue playing and hopefully move up beyond freerolls and penny games. All too often you'll see CC members get into the habit of grinding it up and then taking all the money off ("I needed the $!"). But the best way to make money off the site is to LEAVE some ON the site so you can play better games for more money AND you can play whenever you want (you're not restricted to playing some dumb game that really isn't worth investing the time in)
