I think it would be awesome to have a "Rakeback Club" thread for members who have rakeback lol...

I hate pokerchild and Sean Pilgram!:p

P.S. Email sent. I have a limited amount of money to spend on poker each month. If they don't give it to me this time, I'll take it to one of the other two sites I do have rakeback on. There's no sense in not getting it when I could be.

I have been at this all day with FT support. They will not let me join RB pros because they say I am attahed to another affiliate already but will not tell me which one. They merely say it it is a banner affiliate. Seems wrong to hold peopel hostage to an affiliate that they have no idea about. When i joined FT I do not recall using any sort of affiliate.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Your account is linked to an affiliate, there is nothing you can do. You cannot get RB on an account linked to an affiliate.

Sorry.

I have basically told them that I most likely will move my money as i don;t want to give money to an affiliate that I don;t even know about and collects money from me being there and I can't

This is the reply I go back.

There is a test group of players who are not linked to any affiliate, who have been assigned to an affiliate 'rakebackpros'.

The reason for why we were unable to put your name forward for consideration is because you are already linked to an affiliate. It would violate our Affiliate Agreement to move a player off of an affiliate account.

Since you have not been receiving rakeback from this affiliate, we have placed you on an alternative list for upcoming promotions as compensation.

Our promotions department will be in touch with you with more details regarding these promotions.

See what they offer you.

It wont be RB.

The only time people get RB after being linked to an affiliate is if that affiliate goes bust.

The reason you cant get RB is simply this. When you sign up via an affiliate that affiliate gets paid a percentage of your rake because they got you to sign up.

Thats the agreement.

Now when you get RB what you are doing is to opt out of all of FT's freebies and get all the freebie cash paid directly to you.

You cant do this when your account is linked to an affiliate because the affiliate is already getting some of that cash under the original agreement.

They cant switch you to a different affiliate because that would mean either paying out to two affiliates which costs FT money or terminating the agreement with the origional affilliate which is a breach of contract.

So whilst I always sympathise, I do try and explain to people the situation they are in and why they cant get RB.

Well I will see what they have to offer. I don't know who the affiliate is so I might never know if they go bust.

My wife has been playing on Stars but has not yet joined FT so I will be sure get her to sigh up through RB Pros if she decides to play there.

If they have nothing to offer me that interests me I will move my money to stars and work harder on VPP or move it somewhere that I can get RB from.

The alternate they are offering SOME people is a $10K yearly bonus that clears at a rate that makes it basically equivalent to RB. From what I understand it's only been offered to a few (higher raking) players thus far.

I think it is retarded to even have rakeback sites. They should just not charge as much to play there. I played for many years and figured out that someone else was making bank off of me..

I don;t mind if they offer rakeback and affiliates get money from it. I just want all of the players to be able to get rakeback as well. They should not pay affilates when they won;t pay the players.

Apparently if you have an UB or AP account, you have until midnight tonight to convert it to a RB account otherwise you will never be able to convert.

Just had an email come through from my RB provider warning everyone of this.

Any more info on that Stu?

I don't currently have an account at either - will that mean there will be no Rakeback for accounts made after today?

lol Pascal, I had the window open for a while, before replying, and you were reading my mind...

I am trying to find out and If I do will post here. But so far, it seems you can open an account w/o depositing and still be eligible for RB, (seems underlined as I am not 100% certain) so if you want to play there at some point, maybe just make an acct now, thats what I am thinking..... If anyone sees error in my thinking, please comment.

If you don't have either you are fine.

After tonight you can only get RB on new accounts, you will not be ablke to convert an existing account.

This is the email.

New Policy For Cereus Accounts

There is a new policy being implemented at AP and UB which may affect and prevent anyone without rakeback now on either room, from getting it in the future. This news only came through late on Friday the 16th April. The change will take place on 19th April.

The new rule is that a player will only be considered as a NEW player to the Cereus Network (Absolute or UltimateBet) if they do not already have an account at one room or the other after midnight ET on the 18th April 2010.
This basically means that if a player is not deemed as NEW when they sign up for rakeback (or any other affiliate deal) through any affiliate then they will not be eligible for rakeback on that new account.

Yes we know it sounds like Greek but, we have tried to summarise how you might be affected so please read on and then act accordingly if you should so decide to. In ALL of the cases you do not have to worry about depositing straight away.
It's a little complicated but the long and short of it is that if you do not currently have an existing rakeback account at either AP or UB (or both) and you want rakeback at them in the future then you need to sign up now for either one, the other or in some case both.

Summary

1. If you already have Rakeback at both Absolute and UltimateBet (through any affiliates), YOU DO NOT need to do anything. Your deals will not be affected.
2. If you have a rakeback account at one of the two rooms through RTR and no account at all at the other then you can sign up for the other room through RTR at any other point in the future without problem of getting rakeback. You DO NOT have to act now.
3. If you have a rakeback or a non rakeback account at one of the two rooms either direct or through someone other than RTR - AND you have no account at all at the other room, then you would need to sign up with the other room now through a rakeback affiliate (preferably us) if you ever wanted rakeback there in the future. After the 18th April, that new account would not be eligible for rakeback.
4. If you have no accounts at either AP/UB but might want to get rakeback at both in the future, you need to sign up at both rooms now before midnight.
5. If you have a rakeback account at one of the rooms, and a regular account at the other room - OR you have regular accounts at both rooms then you need not do anything, but you can apply to have them retagged through you RTR Group site.

We realise that some of you may get this email late, but this was the earliest we could send it as we needed to confirm the exact details. We would still recommend you sign up as necessary in case of any unforeseen circumstances/delays in the process change.

Read the summary again Stu. Seems like those without accounts should create them now?

Thanks for the heads-up Stu. Can't remember if my UB account was affiliated or not, but I just requested RB from RTR just in case. I also just signed up under them for an AP account with RB.

I rarely play UB and may never play AP either -- both still leave a bad taste in my mouth -- but at least this way I'll have them covered for RB.

Thx Stu_Ungar.

Hmmm, nobody seems to have told Absolute Poker about this? I am still awaiting a response from UB. The inquiries were made prior to 12AM ET 04.19. No biggie for the AP denial as I don't really play there but on occasion I will play @ UB...no deposits to either site.

Dear Ms. XYZ,
Thank you for contacting us.
We just want to let you know that Absolute Poker does not offer rakeback, but we allow some of our affiliates to do so.
Your account is not currently tag to any of our affiliates and it was opened on 2009-10-03 at 02:48 ET. Our policy states that players have 10 days after they opened their accounts to tag them to an affiliate, since your account was not tagged in time, we will not be able to tag the account so you will not be able to receive rakeback on this account.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further concerns.
Best regards,
Fred
