I think this might be linked to GG's August updates
But the "yearly toll" of wins and losses no longer seem to update the same way.

Sum

This hasn't been the most accurate tool to keep track of things because sometimes "the needle" has been stuck for days despite highs or lows. But so far even the freebies have moved that number up and down.

That is until now...
Other wins and losses move the "needle" but freebie losses do not seem to count anymore  Freebie wins however, change the value.

Have you noticed the same?

When something is free, you cant lose, so what exactly is a "freebie loss"?

This is not only in the welcome screen.
Also the winnings in the MTT HUD(lifetime cashes listed there) of the player do not account freeroll winnings. Only winnings of paid tournaments are added up there.

This is regionally. I never head that summary .
Smth like that will probably be implemented next year though. Austria decided after 20 years to open the gambling market, which means they won't look a way anymore when pokerrooms don't have a license . ( To be fair, the state never gave them a chance for a license to begin with )

License acquirement comes with many conditions , predominantly to protect players.
There will be an age dependant depositing limit for instance.
So I can imagine I get this summary thing next year.
If GG decides to stay ofc

Yes this is almost certainly part of licensing requirements. In Sweden all licensed sites inform us about our profit/loss over a rolling 12 month period, every time we log on. As you say, the idea is to protect players by reminding them, how much they already lost.

In this case the meaning is purely mathematical. GG has clearly changed how it keeps its toll.

Other meaning of freebie loss can be explained like this:

That might well be. Maybe they used to include the value of unused tournament tickets in your overall balance, but now they dont do this. Like maybe before if a player had lost $900 but also accumulated $500 worth of tournament tickets over the past 12 month, they would show this as a $400 loss, but now it will show as a $900 loss.

Which could be a government requirement actually. In Sweden we get "playing time reminders" every 60-90 minutes, and these inform us about our win/loss for the session including money in play, which are counted as "lost". A tournament ticket can not be withdrawn, so it makes sense to not include the value of unused tickets in a players 12 month win/losses, if you look at it with the eyes of a government.

Your guess is as good as mine
Finland has not yet entered the license model so our government probably has not much say (yet) in the matter. But maybe EU has said something?
Other thing that came to mind is GG's Player Value Index (PVI). They are very hush hush about it so very little is know. But this change may or may not have an affect on individual's score.

Seems unlikely since apparently they dont see this 12 month status in Austria, which is also a member of the EU.

GG Poker is one of the least transparent sites out there, and this is the main reason, why I am not a big fan. They also have a non-disclosed "sufficient gameplay requirement", before people can withdraw money, they deposited, and so the list goes on and on.

GG is a very volatile room full of players who play any garbage, which leads us to have to measure our game so as not to lose much and to be able to exploit them with courage

Well to be fair to them they basically want depositors just to play through their deposit. Didnt deposit lots of times there but when i did they never wanted more gameplay then more or less my deposit before they let me withdraw.

But still an extremely untransparent site yes. Now one of their newest features is that they cancelled the option to see anterior screennnames of people who changed their Name(s). Read this on 2+2 so not 100 % sure if true

Which is fair enough and similar to other sites. But why not disclose what the requirement is? Like "deposited money needs to be wagered at least once, before it can be withdrawn". They claim, that this is to "avoid abuse" and "protect the ecosystem". But the more obvious reason is, that if people refrain from asking for a withdrawal, because they are unsure, if their request will be met, then they might continue to play and pay more rake.

Also, while I can somewhat understand the logic behind a "sufficient gameplay requirement", ultimately money deposited onto a gambling site belong to the player, who deposited it. It does not belong to the site. Maybe people should not deposit a lot of money, if they are unsure, how much they want to play. But what if something comes up, so that people need their money? Like some kind of emergency? Then a "sufficient gameplay requirement" actually become quite unreasonable.

The bigger sites like GG Poker, PokerStars and ACR Poker almost certainly have systems, that handle most transactions to and from players accounts without any human intervention. So its not like, players moving money in and out of their account place any particular burden on them. And if it does, they could just charge a fee. Like if you want to withdraw without meeting the "sufficient gameplay requirement", there is a $20 fee for that. That in itself would make people think twice before requesting unnessesary transactions.

And if its about combating money laundering, then first of all sites should stop any kind of player to player transfer, so that its clear, who are transferring money in and out of gambling sites. They can also demand, that money is withdrawn using the same method, which it was deposited with. Which by the way both ACR Poker and GG Poker already does.

I dont think, PokerStars have any "sufficient gameplay requirement". GG Poker claim to be the new market leader, and they claim to care so much about protecting recreational players. Well then how about letting those recreational players withdraw their money, if they want to? Its not a good look for GG Poker to still have a policy like this, which belong in the Wild West of unregulated illegal gambling.

And to add, no other site has been as picky when it comes to withdraws.
I had not deposited/withdraw in over a year. So they decided I had to do my KYC+deposit again, even though none of my info had changed.
In comparison, I never had similar problems with Party. It has always been a breeze.

My experience there is that there is no real rollover requirement for smallish amount/p2p's but for higher amounts there is.

A friend sent me 1k there some time ago and the whole amount was then under some locked balance and i had to rollover every cent of it. Found that pretty customer unfriendly tbh as i could also not resend it to someone (for example back to my friend).

Might be that p2p transfers are handled different that regular deposits? And yes I agree. Much better to not allow such a big p2p transfer in the first place than make it a locked balance, where you can not even return the money to the person, who send it.

It is.

PokerStars, GG, CoinPoker and many other sites have their own business model which includes things they do and that they are not communicating to their players.

All these things are legal in the view of courts, judges and lawyers, but with ethical views they are all more or less shady.

In my experience in the last few years they are handled the same. Deposits and p2p with low amount: money is available to send and even withdraw. When its a big amount then its locked and i had to rollover. No idea where the border is to this and not sure if they maybe changed something by now.

Also deposited once 500 to send to someone and they didnt let me lol. Had to then rollover the money and play which was absolutely not the purpose in the first place. This worked first with low amounts and i thought ok 500 should work too but it didnt. Then few months later my friend sent 1k and i already forgot about it otherwise i wouldn't agree on the trade 🥴
