Hi,
Did anyone else get the message that poker starts are no longer offering sit and go tournaments.

Does anyone know why this is? Or offer any other recommended sites?

Thanks,

Haven't heard that but would be shocked if they did. It would be -EV for them if they did.

After the lifting of COVID-19 restrictions in most western countries, volume on western facing sites like PokerStars, 888 Poker, PartyPoker and ACR has declined substantially. As an adjustment to this, PokerStars have reduced the selection of SnG formats multible times and the latest formats to get axed were regular speed and turbo Heads-up SnGs.

So for fans of Heads-up, there are now only hyperturbos left. Officially the purpose is to reduce waiting time for SnGs to start. But on a more cynical note one might also speculate, that people playing hyperturbos pay more rake per hour, and that this is why, its the surviving format ;)

PS Michigan has only HU now. And I believe that is exclusively because of lack of players.

I closed and opened it again and now this message appeared to me.
"to maintain a healthy and enjoyable experience for all poker players"
The question is: for them or for us?
Each day a new surprise.

I didn't get a message, but whereas it was easy to find SNGs there with various buy-in levels in the beginning, back in february when online poker became legal here in Michigan, I found no SNGs when I looked 2 or 3 weeks ago. And I found none this morning, either. Not much going on with scheduled tourneys at Stars Michigan, either. So I left. BetMGM Michigan is my go-to site when I want to play poker.

Players from Michigan have their own separate player pool and game selection. This is why, activity on that particular site is low. There are plenty of scheduled tourneys and SnGs running on the international PokerStars site, where people from all over the world play.

Correct. Poker Stars MI and BetMGM (MI) are the only two legal online sites in Michigan. Last Spring, it was easy to find a good selection of tourneys at both sites. But it appears that BetMGM (MI) has won the battle for customers. Stars allows HUDs on their site and BetMGM doesn't. HUDs favor pros and semi-pros, but most online players in Michigan are hobbyists. I could be wrong, but I believe this is why players migrated from Stars (MI) to BetMGM (MI).
