The issue with PT4 was a really simple one, since I just had to change the language of the poker client from swedish to english. Which I kind of knew already, but I had forgotten about it. So PT4 (including the HUD) still work on 888 Poker, even though they now have their own simple build-in HUD. This is great, because it allow people to collect their hands in PT4 for later analysis.
I am actually playing some MTTs on 888 Poker right now, and I like their new software. It runs very smoothly and dare I say even better than that of PokerStars? Definitely lightyears better than GG Poker or ACR Poker. The games also seem to be extremely soft still especially in the micros. A $2.2 satellite reached the money (with me cashing), even before late registration had finished. The target tournament then got cancelled, and the $16.5 buyin was credited my account.
One player regularly open shipped for 100BB with nonsense, like if it was a freeroll. I called him with AJ and won a flip against 22. Another player shipped 100BB on the flop (10 x the pot) with two pair, got called by the nut flushdraw and lost. Several players were sitting out or "fish betting" 1BB into a pot of maybe 12BB. One guy flopped trips in a 4-way pot and slowplayed it until the river, where he bet small. I raised him with a rivered boat, and then he shipped it for 70BB and lost his entire stack. Another player lost 60BB with top pair to a turned boat in a $8.8 game.
What I dont like so much is the fact, the MTT schedule is pretty thin, which is the main reason, I gave up on 888 Poker 3 years ago. That and the fact their SnGs were poor compared to PokerStars. I am also not a big fan of 2h45min late registration in mystery bounty events. The whole point of these games is to fight for the bounties, so why let people sit and play for nearly 3 hours, before that phase is even reached?
On the upside I guess, you can argue, that late registrering to these games is fine, since unlike in KOs or PKOs, no money is taken out of the price pool during late registration. So if you dont want to play for so long, you can skip the first 1 or 2 hours and only lose out on chances to pick up easy chips from punters. And unlike on PokerStars the mystery bounties come into play, as soon as late registration ends, and not when the tournament is ITM.
I really think, they should make that temporary SnG offering permanent or at least the 6-mans, which seemed to be the most popular. The site needs more traffic, and having at least some SnGs would allow people to play some of these games on the side while waiting for their MTTs to complete. This would make it much more likely, that I would go back to playing on 888 Poker regularly. As it is, maybe I will play some MTTs there during weekends and holidays, but thats likely going to be it.
