Just received an email from 888 Poker informing me, that SnGs will be back on the platform from 24-26 july 2026. I have no idea, why they are doing this, but perhaps its some kind of test run to see, if there is interest in these games? I would strongly consider making a deposit and playing some games to show them, that yes there is. But unfortunately I have technical issues with the 888 Poker client, so this is not going to happen. But the idea is now passed on to other SnG fans with an account on 888 Poker :)

I played a few last night. SnGs are my favourite format due to time constraints, so I will try to make the most of this weekend :D

Just out of curiosity, is it the same game formats with the same structure and rake as before, or did they change something? For me the SnGs on 888 Poker were not the best in the industry, so if they decide to bring them back permanently, I hope, they will make some improvements :)

HU or 6 handed Turbos and Super Turbos.

They've halved the rake for this weekend, so it's a max of 5% instead of 10%, which is awesome. I don't have a huge BR on 888, just because their tournament selection at the micros is quite poor for UK timings.

Having traditional 6-man SnGs with 5% rake as a permanent offering would be awesome, but thats probably to much to hope for :)

Wouldn't it? Alas, if they do make a permanent return, there's now way the rake will remain at 5%. Maybe they'll do it for a month as part of a hard re-launch, but I think even that would be wishful thinking.

I think they'd be crazy not to keep it at 1/2 the rake permanently. Why not? I'm sure in time they'd get close to 10x the business.

What Sng games does 888 even have these days? (or 'did' they recently have?)

Until they cancelled them all a few years back, they had 6-mans, 9-mans and DoNs. I guess heads-up as well, but I never played those. I think, on paper there were also some 27-mans or something, but they never ran. After they removed the traditional SnGs, there were only some really stupid Spins left, where you start with 7,5BB. Spins are bad enough on other sites, but somehow 888 managed to make them even worse......

Great stuff from 888Poker. Sadly only formats are 6-man turbo and heads-up super turbo but still great they are doing something like this. Hope this becomes event that happens more often.

6-man turbo is fine though, and on smaller sites its probably better to have a single format, that actually run, that multible formats, that rarely if ever run. Unibet only have 5-man SnGs. And one can say, that GG Pokers Battle Royal 18-man SnG is not the greatest format, but by having only this single format they have at least created a game, where you never need to wait long to get action. So maybe this is, what is needed to keep SnGs alive?

I like the idea. Unibet also does great job by only allowing one format, 5-man SnGs. Perfect for smaller site.

I wish 888Poker does continue SnGs weekly or bi-weekly and switches formats each week:
Next Weekend: 9-man Turbo
Then: 6-man Hyper

It’s great that they’re adding SNGs to their schedule.
But for just two days?
I think a lot of people won't even find out about it; since they want to run a test, why not keep it on the schedule for at least a month?

Maybe they are thinking, that when its only for a weekend, its more of an event, and then people will log on to play, so that the games actually fill and run? The peril of SnGs is, that when activity drop below a certain level, then games stop to run completely, because people give up, when they tried a few times but never got action, or it literally took hours.

For instance ACR Poker somewhat recently added tripple-up 9-man games (a variation of DoNs), and I would love to play these games, but they never run. I think, I managed to get into maybe 4 or 5 of them over a period of several month. So they might as well take them down again to not make people expect to be able to play something, that only exist in theory.

Come to think of it, you're absolutely right.
Even on PokerStars—where there’s the most action for SNGs—there are some games that take a while to start because they don't fill up with the required number of players.

Wow, I didn't realize 888 had completely stopped SNGs. I've never really been able to play there, except in the early 2000s, but I preferred PokerStars and Full Tilt at that time. SNGs are always my go-to, but I notice a lot of sites these days (at least ones that I can play in the US) have very slow-filling SNGs. Not at all like the "old days". 😥

They say half rake but those hyper heads up im playing atm have 5% rake and thats like a normal rake for that specific format. Half would be more like 2.5 or 3 %.

I think 888 is one of the best sites. In my opinion, it is one of the most promising platforms, but they have a very significant drawback. The feedback and support service work extremely poorly, I would say irresponsibly.

Amazing, that's good news, but sad that it is only for 2 days.
Hopefully they see that there is still demand for them. In fact, they limited it to Super turbo HU and Turbo 6-max. But still quite good.

Great news and I've already started to play a few SNGs on 888 as it's a great time with the low 5% rake and also because a lot of free tickets are offered both in freerolls and deposit offers... I also prefer to play Turbo 6-max SNGs, so I'm not affected that we don't have the previous formats offered on 888 * mainly the classic 9-max and the Double or Nothing SNGs... I even played a few HU SNGs and the super turbo structure wasn't really that fast which made for some pretty good/enjoyable 'fights' * it took some time for the games to start, I guess it's normal though...

Thats true. On ACR Poker its mainly On Demand SnGs, that are running, while all the single table games seems to be slowly dying out. Even just a year ago you could regularly get into $15 8-mans, but now you are lucky to get into a few $6 games now and then. The On Demand games give dubble points for the leaderboard, so this might be part of the explanation, why they are the ones running more regularly.

Its half rake for the 6-mans though. Or even less if you compare to the ridiculous amount of rake, PokerStars charge for these games now.

This is the best thing to happen on 888 in a long time. Player numbers in the room have been steadily declining, so this might attract players who used to regularly play SNGs on 888. It is a shame, however, that the format and buy-in options are limited.
