I don't think it was a rigged game. Colorado believed in themselves in the 9th inning. The fact is that the Rockies are a team with no tournament ambitions for the season. The quality of their defense is very low, but there are no problems with their offense. Pittsburgh has a very reliable backup pitcher, Dennis Santana, who plays as a save pitcher (the one who ends the final inning). His ERA before the game against Colorado was "1.36"! I think the main reason for Pittsburgh's defeat was underestimating their opponent.
